Liverpool - post match thread.

Can I just say (sorry, don't know if it's been mentioned on the thread) how fucking dreadful it was having to listen to Macminimum and especially that odious cvnt (can we not say cvnt anymore???) Glen Hoddle all through the match. Hoddle fucking hates us, I don't know why. He was literally drooling over how marvellous 1-shot liverpool were and completely ignored anything positive we did. Every liverpool tackle was a work of pure genius.

In the 2nd half when we had a decent chance, the prick even said "it only happened because of a liverpool mistake - it wasn't a chance City created".

It was quite the most unbearable commentary I'd had to suffer in long, long time. Had to turn the sound off in the end. BT, shame on you for allowing such biased commentary.

Predictable as could be. Most of us saw that unfolding weeks ago. I'm just surprised they only scored one and that they were pretty shit as well. That doesn't excuse our performance or set-up.

Yet again Silva was playing amongst a load of players hiding and missing. Did de Bruyne play? Did Kun contribute anything? What's going on with those two of late? They are WELL off the pace. I can't remember the last time either played well.

And what's going on with Guardiola's Pellegrini style of not reading what the opponent will do, I thought that was one of his strong points?

KDB is playing out of position. All his best work is done behind the striker, see the goal against Hull.

Pep is trying to shoehorn Silva and KDB into the side.

Hope you've got somewhere else to live then Ric. The game's up with Aguero and it's clear he knows it.

Yep, there's something definitely not right with Aguero. Perhaps he's sulking because we are about to have a new poster boy and to rub the salt in he's Brazilian.

The funniest was listening to Hoddle offer his 'advice' to Guardiola throughout the game - what a nob.

Hoddle commentating generally goes as follows:
Pick a side to praise
Praise until the side you've picked concedes
Praise how wonderful the other side is
Continue as above depending on who scores next

Agree completely.

Its unbalanced and expecting players to deliver out of their natural positions.

less is more in this instance!

Watch it again, second half there was a 15 minute spell where they could barely get out of their half. We were suddenly aggressive and hunting them down, without actually creating much. My issue is, why do we turn this aggression on and off like a fucking tap?

It's the same as the chalk and cheese halves we get. First half - lacklustre, tentative, defensively frail; second half - attacking like a pack of hyenas, pressure off the defence, and the midfield clicking like a well-oiled machine.

High press..team press..play out from the back..sweeper keeper..ball playing centre backs..Yaya ..no Yaya ..inverted full backs..kick it long..pass it keep it..give & go..hit the line..cut inside..overlap..hold your position..move..over the top..through the middle..one /two..wall ball..dribble..fast..slow

3 1 4 1 1.....4 1 4 1....3 1 6......4 1 5....4 1 2 3....( some times in the same game). What is our 'core'style ?

No wonder the players look bemused & lack confidence. They're drained before they start.

Thought first half was an absolute disgrace, way too timid, didn't seem to be pressing enough and lost pretty much every physical battle against a team who had much more desire. Much improved after the break (not difficult) but what a wasted opportunity to gift them a goal in such a tight match. The goal looked an absolute fiasco to me. Yaya's free kick was embarrassing, Kolarov's attempts to deal with the ball were pathetic (as one would expect), Zabba let the cross come over too easily and how we can allow a player to have such an easy header right in the middle of the goal, I have no idea. I didn't have the best view but surely Kolarov could have done more to try to deal with it? Not seen any footage of the match since I got back and frankly doubt I will bother looking for any highlights, can anyone tell me where the centre backs were when someone was heading the ball in from about 8 yards bang in the centre of the area? We have got to get back to playing in Pep's style quickly or we will sink without trace IMO. So, passing and movement off the ball has to be quicker and better and most importantly we need to get back to the high pressing that we were doing effectively earlier in the season and when we do it we look a different team (second half Arsenal, second half Barca and for 20 mins last night). At the moment we seem to have fucked all Pep's ideas off for most of the time and settled into the same pattern of shite we have seen in the previous two seasons.
