Liverpool - post match thread.

The inclusion of Kolarov as a full back is mystifying and just so wrong its untrue. For a manager of Peps experience its almost criminal and if he continues to pick him in that position he deserves all the flak coming his way im afraid.

More worrying for me than our defensive frailties is our toothless attack right now and yesterday again, we looked awful going forwards.

Pep has to find the right balance and certain players are just going to have to sit it out im afraid as you cant shoehorn players in for the sake of it or because of past reputations. In my opinion, Kun should not have started yesterday.

Pep will get it right sooner rather than later, ive no doubt about it but his selections yesterday and then abject substitutions leave him open to justifiable criticism.

When we announced him coming, to a fan we all thought the days of certain players not being arsed where over and that he wouldn't stand for it and make the changes needed yet its appearing it isnt like that right now and it needs to start.

And sometimes if we shoot we might score
That was basic defending and he failed to even attempt it. Disgraceful as it was against Leicester. Kolorov plays when he wants, he should have been replaced years ago. People on here slagging aguero off but we didn't create one genuine chance. He was completely isolated and he's not played for 4 games. There are few if any better cf than Sergio and where would we be without his goals? Plenty of upgrades on kolorov who's overall contribution to city has been what? Aguero can't do his job without the right service. Anyone can jump and head a cross away or more importantly attempt to properly.

Watch it again, second half there was a 15 minute spell where they could barely get out of their half. We were suddenly aggressive and hunting them down, without actually creating much. My issue is, why do we turn this aggression on and off like a fucking tap?
We were, yes. But it really never got out of hand for any of their back line. No scary moments, and as I said, it was Liverpools strategy to absorb our attacks and pressure, nullify and break. All too easy for them.
If we went into the last 30mins at 1-1 they would have been playing completely different. Whether the outcome would have been any different is up for debate, but our stategy was pretty much telegraphed to the scourers (no, that's not a spelling mistake).

He couldn't have done anything imo, but you could argue that if yaya didn't make a killer pass to him in the first place he wouldn't have been put in that situation
Did you see kolorov jump? His control or lack of it from Yayas ball was disgraceful for a premier league player

For all sorts of reasons, most of Pep's signings have rarely been available, so by and large, we're stuck with two ageing full backs, a lightweight midfield that struggles to assert itself, and a striker who seems a shadow of his former self.

Our only hope for this season is that Sane continues to improve, and Jesus hits the ground running. Otherwise, we'll be having the same arguments about the same players, as City slide towards 6th.

As for last night, Silva and De Bruyne had a decent 10 minutes between them, but both remained peripheral figures. Aguero was completely anonymous, and the delay over the Navas substitution was almost as embarrassing as the City fan acting like a cowardly rag in the last minute.
Fuck off to the swamp if you want to throw flares.

Whilst the end game is going to be something truly special, both Pep and Begiristain dropped a massive bollock with their choice of players in the summer.

Instead of spending money on Moreno, Zinchenko, Rulli and Sane we should have reinforced the fullback area.

Pep wants to play a high intensity system yet his tools to do so are all wrong. The fact we were never really linked with a RB, and the fact that Grimaldo went to Benfica for £2m, shows how much we've overlooked key areas.

Pellegrini's last summer, Alex Sandro was on the market. A top class LB who was available for £18m. Rather than spend the money, we decided to splash £13m on Patrick Roberts who's spent the last 18 months on loan.

It's all well and good buying these young talents, but for the here and now we needed those upgrades, and to have four fullbacks over 30, and our youngest CM to be 28 is absolutely wank decision making.

To blame Yaya is laughable, he passed it and maybe under pressure but that doesn't mean he couldn't make his pass does it? The fact yaya passed it there doesn't mean he loses his "ability" to kick a football?

We need some fullbacks and have done for years! Pep or whoevers failure to correct this is unforgivable. Personally I think the failure is Txixi's to not buy at least one fullback this summer was a joke
