Liverpool - post match thread.

I think he should have stuck with the same team that ended the game v Hull. I was surprised that Sagna didn't play and Kolarov was in at left-back. Aguero is no longer of so much importance to us that he should come straight back in to the side following three straight wins and constant changing of the back four is doing us no good whatsoever.

It's concerning that Pep seems to be repeating the same mistakes. Two subs with 3 mins to go is hardly the stuff of genius. He needed to throw the dice with 20-25 mins to go. Instead it was passive garbage from him. May as well have been Pellegrini managing us. So frustrating.

Agreed the second half against le arse was brilliant.
And most of that transformation from one half to the next was about work rate and general intensity. It stopped the counter attacks and put Arsenal on the back foot. We need to stop thinking it is ok to only flick that switch when things are going tits up though IMO. We start games terribly too often at the moment and I assume that is about attitude.

Hahaha.......exactly this.......

People blame Kun cause they cant blame pep as he is untouchable......

Yep let's blame a player who has proven to be the greatest striker in this league over the last 25 years. It's just incredible.

Lots of flapping going on in here.
Cannot believe people are questioning the likes of Aguero and Silva who are world class players that would grace any 11!
People seem to have forgotten how few teams get a result at klanfield these days.
Thought we were the better team for the first ten mins and pretty much the whole second half.
They did not really over run our midfield as I expected them to so was pleasing to see.
The goal they got resulted from poor decision making from a few of our players when we were in a good attacking position and was compounded by some pretty shoddy defending. That 30 seconds or so of mental aberration cost us the game.
Disappointing at the end of the day but no reason to get too down.
We should definitely give Pep a couple of transfer windows before letting the panic set in.

Runs work rate has gone to another level the year..he has adapted to what Pep wants and improved his work rate....yesterday had nothing to do with Kun...its all on Peps shoulders and people just cant admit this to themselves......certianl players didnt play well but the whole team was set up wrongly and that is down to the manager and no one else.....Kdb was absolutely appalling but some on here seem to have a hard on for wanting Kun gone.....(no idea why)
His run work rate has improved but his all round game has to improve he was isolated because he was offside never in the 6-yard box KDB was bad pep's mistake was playing Aguero every time sterling got the ball dipper's doubled up on him with Henderson should have benched Aguero and let KDB and sterling play a interchanging free role

Cant understand why some want him out. The best striker in the prem, club legend and current top goalscorer. Crazy.

I know...but like i said people are blaming him yet are failing (or don't want to) see that it is down to Pep and his way of setting up the team and what he is asking those players to do......and i don't mean Kun in that...he has changed and adapted...dropping deep, running his socks off in games, running channels etc.....

But Pep is asking certain players and the team to play in way it cant.....Kolarov, Yaya, Kdb Zabba are all equally at fault cause they are being asked to play in a way that is just unsuitable........

Aubameyang may or may not be up to Aguero's level generally but he offers something very different from Sergio and I suppose it is about whether what he offers will suit Pep more than what Sergio offers.

I think he is very high up on Pep's wish list. I think Pep will see a big mobile centre forward and pacey skillful wingers as part of his recipe for success in England.

Im sure its harder than it is but he is making the same mistakes every time we play high energy teams......

for me this is what we should have done yesterday

Bravo

Sagna Stones Ottomendi Clichy
fernando ferna
sterling silva/kdb nolito
kun

Now who you pick out of KDB or silva for yesterday i don't know so thats a very difficult one

Nolito would have given us more work rate and more control in the midfield

Fernando - a shield i front of the back 4

two fullbacks with a bit more pace at least who can also tuck into midfield

Thats with the injuries at present

Without injuries you would have Kompany in there instead of Otto

Maybe Sane instead of Nolito

This is obviously against the better high pressure teams

against the hull's etc you can play more attacking teams and probably drop fernando and play yaya/gundongan and probably silva and kdb...but not all of them against the better teams

You ask the team to stay compact and as a whole unit defensively for the first 20-30mins at least...yesterday the gaps between the 3 parts of the team were huge until the second half when as a outfield unit of 10 we played much more compact and further up the pitch....this should have happened from the onset but we were far too spread out all the time.....huge mistake but that is on Pep

We can do it...we have done it.....but he is only changing it when either he needs to or is reacting to something (which is an upset from Pellergrinis not even reacting to it!)
None of all this mattered yesterday. So I fail to see your point. Liverpool was simply as dogged, and they got away with a victory.
