Liverpool - post match thread.

in few years time sterling and sane will be at that level. those players are world class, some of the best ever tbf.
They are, my point is to compete with that we need to be aiming to replicate the same. Sane and Sterling are good but I don't think we'll compete at the top unless we have players in their primes in the attacking positions.

I listened on 5 live as am away with work - I expected the Liverpool pen to have been cast iron the way they were going on about it. I've now seen it a few times and it very soft indeed.

The whole game Green and Lily were giving us stick for booing Milner. I've never heard anyone sticking up for Sterling when he's booed at every ground he plays at!

The only one in the whole game which was a definite pen was the Milner one on Sterling.

It was an opportunity missed to consolidate top 4 position. We are now looking over our shoulders at the Rags.

I have confidence Pep will get it right and next season with three new defenders, a couple of central mids and a new striker.

The omission of Kompany is a strange as he's still our best defender when fit. Pep obviously sees this season as being about building for the future. As Kompany is not seen as a long-term solution perhaps he sees it as pointless to play him when he won't be around next season. It's a shame as his presence could have been invaluable paeticularly in Europe and if he breaks down again then at least we've given him every chance. I would hate to see him go and be a success at another club which he could do if he stays fit. I think he was last on the bench v Spurs two months ago - what exactly has changed since then?

Pep said today was one of the best days of his life in post-match interview. Wtf? Just giving the "Fraudiola" crew ammunition.

Just for information - and I can assure you I know this first hand - Alan Green is a Liverpool season ticket holder.
Might help to explain it.

Very good game.
Yes we should of had 2 pens but also thought Toure could of seen red for that challenge in the 1st half.

Pep Guardiola: "We have clear chances and we don't score goals. That's why we can't compete with the top teams."

Spot on.

We can have the best defense in football but it counts for nothing when we miss so many chances. Its really is ridiculous. This is the reason we are not top of the league and out of the CL. Even if we made it to the CL final this year, we would probably miss a few sitters and lose the game. Its unbelievable and is driving me crazy. I thought it would improve by now, but it seems its only getting worse. Boro game as well. Should of scored another 5 goals really. Monaco game missed a few sitters and now we are out despite being the better team. Same story in many games this season. We are the better team and outplay the opponent, only to lose or draw because of missed chances. I am sick of it really. We missed TWO PENALTIES vs Everton, two, how shocking is that. I don't remember the last time any team missed two penalties, let alone a top one. This team will never win anything if we need 7 chances to score one goal. This is one thing that separates the best from the rest. Chelsea are top of the league because when they get even the smallest chance at 1-1 or 0-0 they convert and win the game. Something needs to change.

we are aiming for that though. its going to take time, but i think its much better to have the young attacking wingers we have now, then buying ready made world class.

We were lucky Liverpool missed some of their chances from breaks... the number of missed blatant (from where I was watching) offsides is hard to explain.... the Lino on the South side of the pitch 2nd half was so far behind the game it's untrue
