Also, another snippet of info is I was told that when RBS introduced the penalty payments, they put in a clause saying they could convert the £2.5m per year into equity. This means they will not put the LFC into administration, because they’ll own it.

As we the tax payers currently own 81% of RBS ..... we will in effect own Liverpool FC.

well i won't im legally dead for tax purposes

Re: Liverpool Red Sox

Crisis-hit Liverpool are to be sold to the owners of the Boston Red Sox baseball team.

But the takeover by the New England Sports Ventures is subject to the resolution of a legal dispute with US owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

The Premier League will also have to approve the latest American buyout.

Earlier Hicks and Gillett tried to sack managing director Christian Purslow and commercial director Ian Ayre in a last-ditch bid to keep control of the club.

Link?

The last statement from the club was that lawyers were looking into who actually even has the power to sell the club, so I would have thought a sale is at least a few days away.

Note to editors:
The sale is conditional on Premier League approval, resolution of the dispute concerning Board membership and other matters.

So, not done yet.

Thanks. So as I suspected, the OP is a little premature.

Re: Liverpool Red Sox

If i was liverpool fans i wouldnt be getting excited at this. It seems like a case of out of the frying pan and into the fire. This guy has less personal wealth than them 2 and also has interests in other sports teams.

His personal wealth is estimated at around 860m dollars so generously around 750m pounds. If he was to build a new stadium and buy new players it would wipe out his personal fortune cant see him doing that

-- Wed Oct 06, 2010 7:39 am --

If i was liverpool fans i wouldnt be getting excited at this.
