While Liverpool, and Dalglish, are clearly easy targets with their league form, don't forget that, to date, they are the only English club guaranteed European football next season at the present time.

They are also in a winnable semi-final of the FA cup, and they could realistically win both domestic trophies this season.

And that's a bad season is it!

Fuck me. We waited 35 years for a trophy and we're laughing off Dalglish winning a trophy (and possibly two) in his first full season!

How funny will RAWK make of our posturing if we win nowt and they win the two cups! Let's not give them the ammunition..!

The way I see it, the league should always be first priority. Domestic Cups should be a bonus. Look at Birmingham last season. Even if Liverpool do a double, its still a poor season in my eyes.

Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

This talk of a Liverpool double this season... They've got to get past Sunderland in the Semi Final and then beat one of Chelsea or Tottenham in the Final. They struggled to beat Cardiff in the Carling Cup and lost 2-1 at home to Wigan yesterday! I know they're the luckiest side in football (a 2005 Champions League win tells you everything you need to know) but not even Liverpool and "King Kenny" look set to lift the FA Cup this season, IMHO.

Dalglish has spunked a fortune on bad signings and Liverpool have lost 5 from 6 in the Premiership. Anyone without rose tinted specs on can see how bad a position they're realistically in.

Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

Did you see Football Focus yesterday and Robbie Savage was asked about Liverpool.
He said, being 28 points behind the leaders in the Premier league and not going to qualify for the Champions league is a disaster for them and even though they've won the league cup, it's just not good enough for Liverpool football club
The host then said, "well you're not making many friends on Merseyside with that statement"
and Savage answered, "It doesn't matter, because it's true"

Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

With the FFP the league is everything. Winning a Carling cup but finishing 30 points from top is not good enough at all.

Pmsl. Very funny.

You and Dave think alike though and you probably think Brum more successful than Chelsea last season as they won the milk cup.

-- Sun Mar 25, 2012 3:30 pm --

And he's so very right.

^this. the carling cup and their fa cup run are just papering over the cracks. liverpool as a club are crumbling and, with ffpr kicking in, failure to qualify for the chamipons league - again - will hasten their decline still further.

let's not forget that they only won the carling cup by beating a championship club on penalties and only got to the final in the first place because dowd stitched city up in the 2nd leg of the semi.

Or wums being contrary for the sake of it.

Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

If the league started January 1st they'd be 19th in the table.
