While Liverpool, and Dalglish, are clearly easy targets with their league form, don't forget that, to date, they are the only English club guaranteed European football next season at the present time.

They are also in a winnable semi-final of the FA cup, and they could realistically win both domestic trophies this season.

And that's a bad season is it!

Fuck me. We waited 35 years for a trophy and we're laughing off Dalglish winning a trophy (and possibly two) in his first full season!

How funny will RAWK make of our posturing if we win nowt and they win the two cups! Let's not give them the ammunition..!
Pmsl. Very funny.

You and Dave think alike though and you probably think Brum more successful than Chelsea last season as they won the milk cup.

Did you see Football Focus yesterday and Robbie Savage was asked about Liverpool.
He said, being 28 points behind the leaders in the Premier league and not going to qualify for the Champions league is a disaster for them and even though they've won the league cup, it's just not good enough for Liverpool football club
The host then said, "well you're not making many friends on Merseyside with that statement"
and Savage answered, "It doesn't matter, because it's true"
And he's so very right.

When you're looking for Robbie Savage to back you up, I know you're being sarcastic!

Football is all about winning trophies. The Brummies have never won a bean in their history and they won the Carling Cup. They've done relegation loads of times so it's no big deal. They'll probably come straight back up this season.

But they've now got a trophy in the cabinet, and that can't be taken away from them.

A bit like us winning the FA Cup last year. Do you seriously think finishing 2nd. or 3rd. would have been a better feeling?

Too often you look at the poster rather than the comments...
I'm sure PB can get you an invite to the next bash!

I actually respect Robbie Savage. I felt he was an underrated player and take in the column he writes in Zoo Magazine. Like it or not, an Ex-Player knows his own business far more than us fans do. I've watched a match with one recently and he picked up 100 things more than I did.

Ordinarily I would agree with you, but this club is on a trajectory which requires improvement in the league in order to get us where our owners want us to be.

We are not going to realise their aspirations by being a good domestic cup team.

Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

Football might be about winning trophies, but it is also a buisiness and where a club finishes in the League has a huge impact on the finances and the saleability of things. Winning the League Cup is really no big shake for most clubs, nice to do but it's not important, the FA cup is better, maybe for the fans and for clubs on the up like City it was great, but Liverpool are in a slow downward spiral, a few more seasons out of the Champs League will be a calamity for them

I can't believe for a minute anyone would argue with that in all seriousness.

I don't know a Liverpool fan that wouldn't swap the CC for a CL place. To even suggest that is ludicrous. KD will be gone in all probability by the summer. Liverpool can't survive long term in it's present state without the CL income, especially with FFP
