Liverpool Thread 2012/13

Cheers Salford_Blue, I think that's the exact one I was after.

Anybody what kind of timescale would be involved from where they are now to opening at 60,000 assuming no hold-ups? I would be very interested to know.
Also, did they fill Anfield regularly the last few seasons?

“One is we believe you should only spend what you earn. We want there to be as level a playing field as possible.

The first sentence of that quote from Ayre conspicuously and conveniently ignores the losses that Liverpool have been posting in recent years.

The second sentence is a lie.
Funnily enough, that thought crossed my mind as well!

I will say that the amount of international support they still have is nuts - I lived in New Zealand for 5 years and they were by far the most supported team, far, far more fans than even the rags. Same in Aus too, and that's before we come on to the Asian market. It's a famous, famous old brand, no matter how much they've fallen.
They certainly still seem to have plenty saying they are fans, and they need to tap into that as it will slowly wane, but how much money do they actually make from such fans? I suppose if they only buy shirts it helps keep the value of the shirt deals up.

How the worm has turned since the 70's/80s ....

and Liverpool are feeling it more than most ......

not only struggling to compete on the financial front , but also facing the prospect that Suarez could be leaving .... who's gonna score their goals then ???

Still .. they have a bit of history , maybe that will help them ..... doesn't appear to be the first thing on Suaraz's mind though , does it ?

I remember watching the Liverpool derby a couple of years ago. Everton were singing ''and if you know yer history.....'' the bin dippers came back with ''memories, memories''

Ha. Doubt that will get an airing again. :)

Customer of ours at work is a season ticket holder at Anfield - he reckons they have about 25000 season tickets - despite the fact there is a waiting list for season tickets he reckons that a lot of those fans waiting are buying the remaining 20000 already. Don't see how they will fill a 60000 capacity stadium to be honest despite the fact they still have fans worldwide.

To me they dropped a huge bollock in selling out to US owners who not only neglected to invest but also they didn't market the Liverpool brand. In the right hands Liverpool could easily have been one of the biggest brands in world football.

Theres still fuckloads of them around where I live (preston) and I'm sure theres loads more throughout the north of England. If the tickets are well priced I could see them comfortbaly filling 60k most weeks.
