Liverpool Thread 2012/13

apparently Rodgers is in for Sturridge and Walcott according to the papers this week. He missed out on Johnno. Suprised he didn't make a move for his old boy Sinclair. He looks like hes definatley after a wide man or 2.

I think he's on £75k a week...would that be correct?

Closer to £70k i think :)

Just heard ion TS Rodgers said that wingers who are on 5-6mil a year won't be in a rush to leave. That would put Downing on at least 100k-a-week.
joe cole mate. and no-one would disagree with you about that being a clusterfuck of a signing.

from the most part we're trying to get rid of those on extortionate wages who don't deliver value.

Interesting thing Rodgers is doing for us:

- Starting a 17 year old over his 20m winger and threatening to turn him into a BACKUP left-back.
- Starting Coates over Mr. Liverpool, Carragher.
- Subbing Leiva with Shelvey instead of Henderson
- Hawking Carroll
- Adam and Spearing nowhere near the bench, probably will basically be given away for free.

He's making a statement for sure. Damn, when I think that Downing and Carroll ALONE cost about the same of the entire XIs of Newcastle or Swansea it's just unfortunate. Our scouts are a disaster, hope our signings are better with Rodgers.

He's doing the right thing really - clearing out all of kenny's shit

I honestly think they could have been title contenders last year if they'd played their cards right, unfortunately for them kenny blew whatever amount of million on carroll, downing, adam and henderson. Now they're paying for that as they can't sign proper players cos kenny blew the kitty. Only time will tell how many years his horrific management will prevent them from getting anywhere

By seemingly jettisoning most of Kenny's expensive signings, Rodgers is making some bold decisions for sure but I think, providing he's given enough time, he'll be vindicated.

He seems to be replacing those players that might not fit into his passing philosophy with those that do. Liverpool played very well on Sunday but did so by playing a style of football that was very easy on the eye. I was initially doubtful that Rodgers could come in and quickly replicate Swansea's style but by bringing in so many of his own players it might just happen faster than thought.

They have bought shit. They dont have a goalscorer on the cards. Saurez will be lucky to get near 20 goals this season. Doesnt look like a finisher for me. IF I was Liverpool I would be onto Michael Owen right away and bringing him back to the club. On a pay as you play contract at least he can finish and that might well be a signing that might get them back in contention of getting into the Europa League again next season. Wont get champions league just nowhere near that level I would be guessing Liverpool will finish around 7th to 8th this season.

michael owen is not welcome at anfield

most fans would agree with you though. i know people go on about us being deluded and all that, but if we had a goalscorer last season we would have had so much more points.

it's not ideal transfer window for rodgers like. funds severely restricted in terms of what we actually need because of last summer. very much work in progress. think it's too hard to simply look at a squad now and say where someone will finish. chelsea finished 6th last season after all.
