Liverpool is seriously being underrated going into this season. We should watch out for them.

I just don't see it nabster.
Of course they play their heart out against us but over the course of a season ?

I wasn't really replying to any previous post in this thread but generally after the transfers they made and having watched the first half of their game against Preston. They have a place to play in the top 4 race this year.

The brother in law is a scouser. Not a peep out of him about football for the last two years. I think he's still annoyed with me after going to the wedding in a shell suit.

Very strange going into the season with 1 senior dm. AFAIK, none of the defenders can play in midfield like Jones...

Not sure we need another DM, Henderson and Allen are capable of covering. Lucas hasn't been the same since his two injuries and a number of people are wondering whether he'll find that extra yard he was missing last season. I see Hendersons longer term future as a combative ball playing midfielder rather than a wide player as he was played during the second half of last season. Think we'll be glad he "only" cost £22m once he's the finished article.

Saw some other posts about Suarez...starting to piss a lot of people off, why he doesn't just hand in a transfer request I've no idea. It's interesting how he wanted out of England until Madrid seemingly lost interest and now it's CL football he's after. We won't sell him to another English team, predicting he'll stay due to lack of interest as no one outside of England really has the money to buy him.

It's interesting how he wanted out of England until Madrid seemingly lost interest and now it's CL football he's after. We won't sell him to another English team, predicting he'll stay due to lack of interest as no one outside of England really has the money to buy him.

If I have it right, if the club choose to sell him then he is still entitled to all the bonuses etc that he could have earned by playing, but if he hands in transfer request he loses it all. That would be big money, and well worth holding out for if you've got the neck (or maybe that should be cheek!).
I could be wrong, but that's my understanding.

It's about the loyalty bonus. Clubs traditionally insert a clause into a player's contract which entitles the player to a fairly hefty sum if the club chooses to sell them, as a form of recompense as some players genuinely don't want to leave - for some players this can be several million pounds and essentially comes out of the transfer fee. I believe that sometimes players are also entitled to receive this if they reach the end of their contracts naturally, though perhaps not in every case and probably not if they renew half-way through. However, the catch is that their contract states that if at any time they demand a transfer, then this bonus is cancelled out and they are entitled to nothing.
