Pity there's so much hatred of the Scousers. Liverpool is a great club and a great city. Would not have a problem if they finish second behind us!

And Suarez is one of the best footballers we have ever seen.

Not living up there I don't get the intense inter-city dislike though I gather it all started with the building of the Manchester Ship Canal taking trade away?

I have no problem with them, and if them finishing in the top 4 knocking the red shite out happens, I think we'd all be pleased?

Still hate that accent though !

Thing is, Manchester and Liverpool are very similar cities and have an awful lot in common. I've spent many a happy night out in Liverpool and think its a great place to go.

And I agree about the accent! Historical nerdy fact; people in Liverpool had a strong Lancastrian accent before the Industrial Revolution. The accent changed dramatically as Liverpool's port boomed and people from North Wales and Dublin arrived to find work and stayed in the city.

Yeah I lived in Manchester for a bit it was great, prefer it to where I live now (Landan). I always cringe when I hear other Scousers go on about Mancs like that "We only hate Mancs song" but I think most of us are like that when we're on about United haha

There is absolutely no similarities between the two Cities save they are both in the North West, they are two very distinctive Cities with very different histories and even culture

Just think about it, imagine if Man city never had their Arab billions you would still be a midtable mediocre team lol, when u first got your billions and bought Robinho and finished about tenth. Can play some good football at the mo but just a bought team.

You're pushing it a bit now pal. You do realise you are the third biggest spenders in Premiership history don't you? And you've won it how many times? One less than us and Blackburn.

Just think about Liverpool never having the Moores millions in the 1960's & 1970's. Or Shankly. What would you be? Or imagine if you don't finish in the top 4 this season and Suarez goes to a big club. It's mid-table mediocrity for you from then on.

Has never done anything to justify his 20 million price tag or change my views.....

A few half decent games against piss poor opposition and the ravers are out....

Not quite true. There are differences but there are a lot of similarities between the cities, in terms of both history and the present.

In terms of history, both underwent substantial industrialisation at the same time and both took many years to recover after WWII. Each city has undergone significant regeneration.

In terms of culture, they both have rich histories in terms of music, and we both have well established orchestras.

Other similarities:
• Rich history of innovation and invention
• Predominantly represented by Labour Party MPs
• Population size
• Similar levels of deprivation (IMD – Indices of Multiple Deprivation)
• Both were part of Lancashire and both became metropolitan boroughs at the same time
• Both cities, at one time, had two of the biggest ports in the country

Although we (i.e. Manchester) do not a have history of making significant contributions to the enslavement of Africans and we were not the first city to host the first juvenile detention court. 
