How can my hugely plausible theory that Rodgers is an actor pretending, at the behest of a 'Trading Places' social experiment, to be a football manager and thus fooling and humiliating millions of people be rooted in an overriding faith in human nature?

Surely that displays the absolute opposite evaluation of the human condition.

There is also a cost to resetting and restarting.

For me, I'd just hold crisis talks and sorting out once and for all how transfers are done at our club, and then set up some private minimum expectations for the rest of the season.

It's all well and good to call for someone's head, and then what?

I'm not very happy with some of the things he's doing now but I don't think it's unreasonable to see if he has what it takes to fix it--granted it shouldn't be forever.

I would say he clearly can't fix it. That said, there's probably no point in sacking him now. As long as there's no relegation fight (and don't laugh at that, its not impossible as there is a definite downward spiral) it would be better to keep him until the right manager has been identified and is available. That might be end of season.

However, that's not your biggest problem in my opinion. He's been allowed to get himself in this position because of those above him in the club. I haven't seen anything on the pitch/in the squad which wasn't predicted. If they were inept enough to let him get them into this position what makes you think they are capable of clearing up the mess you're in and getting it right next time?

It's a fact of company management that you need somebody competent and capable to sort out those below them. When you get all the way to the top without finding that person, or enough of them, you are truly in the shit.

I'm not making a prediction, but (from the admittedly little I know) I can't see any reason to assume things couldn't get worse.

(Another edit: just re-read the post and realised I imply I think Liverpool could go down. Don't think there's any chance of that, just meant fighting above the relegation zone and trying not to get dragged into it.)
