Re: The Red Lion Pub Team (Liverpool) Thread 2014/15

I'm not sure what they expected with Bodger. He failed at Reading, went to Championship Swansea where they were in 2nd place with ten games to go and went on a bad run but got through the play-offs and into the PL. They did respectably well, finishing in 11th place and then he went to Liverpool.

They finished 7th, one place and 9 points better off than the season before, so some progress but nothing spectacular and only one victory against a team in the top eight (3-2 against Spurs at home). Then, for one season, it all came together largely because of world-class performances from suarez, which in turn allowed Sturridge and Sterling to shine. Their defence wasn't great but they scored more than enough to make up for that deficiency. Then their world-class player went and his striking partner was injured but they spent nearly £120m and brought in 8 new players.

They've now reverted to (apart from last season) where they've been for the last few seasons. No better and probably a little worse. Just about where Swansea were when he managed them for that one PL season. All managers have their level and that's his. Mid-table.

Rumours of it kicking off in the dressing room after the match. Team line ups leaked to the press before kick off. It`s all going the same way as Hodgson`s final days at Liverpool.

And now the idiot manager has killed off the keeper`s confidence.

How reliable are those rumours of it kicking off in the changing rooms?

Time to go back to the old boot room mentality.

Stevie Mee and Carragher single handedly driving the dog population wild in the dugout.

Just seen the highlights, they absolutely killed United in terms of chances and actual football.

If Sturridge was playing, It would have been 5 or 6 against United quite easily.

Rodgers has wasted the Suarez money, Moreno looks a good full back and Markovic has potential along with Can but the rest are mid table crap.

Lovren, Lallana, Lambert and Mario?
Around £70 million on those 4 duds

Sell all the deadwood and beg Suarez to come back in January is what they should do.

The highlights probably overstated it a little but they certainly had the better chances altohugh none of the Liverpool midfield players seemed to be involved in the game that much. Watching the highlights, Sterling should really have scored two of those, the first one and the one in the second half from the Evans backpass. The second chance he had, from a tight angle, was greedy and should have been played to someone better placed.

Mario did well and two of his chances were well saved but there was one where De Gea got his leg to what looked like a weak shot that could have been hit harder and placed better. So three goals for Liverpool would not have been unfair, plus if Sterling gets the first one, then the rags don't get their first.

If Sergio and Edin get the chances Sterling and Mario got today.

It will be another 6 at Old Trafford for us.

Its criminal how Liverpool didn't score at least 3...

However bad this season is for Liverpool the owners should stick by and allow him next season personally. Wenger, Fergie etc all had horrid patches as management, bought utter dross etc. And you only have to look at Big Sam for us and Pardew for Newcastle to see stability usually pays off.

They overachieved last season, didn't have European football, had the worlds best striker and a class act in Sturridge - he's made a lot of mistakes but he should be allowed another season imo

I think he should definitely have another four or five seasons to see how far he can take them !
