Would be more appropriate for the soppy scouse cunts to give a farewell to Sterling. Come on Palace, Piss on chips please.

I'm sick of all this 'one club man' shit, he's leaving for another club!!!

Also, loyalty, what fucking loyalty? He wanted to go a few years ago, is earning anything from 100k to 200k a week and at the first sign of not being a regular fucks off into the sunshine - don't suppose the media will look at it like that though

I will say one thing. This bate-fest pales in comparison to American sports send offs. The Derek Jeter love fest last year was friggin embarrassing. And this coming from a Yankee fan.

I've lived here most of my adult life and I admit I found that completely perplexing. They had ceremonies at every ground the Yankees visited all year long. I think they even had some ceremony at Fenway for him. It would be akin to the Grannyshagger getting an honour guard at the Etihad at the last Derby before he himself decamps for the MLS in a few years.

Why The F_ck is he going to Hell-la, any way? What about that allocation rule. LA won The Cup last year. Don't the worst clubs get first crack at his contract? Or is this similar to the Dempsey situation where he ended up in Shittle when Portland was supposed to have first contact!

Brenda will be creaming himself at the press opportunity a day like today gives him.

Of course he will manage to make it all about him pmsl.

"Steven is one of the most courageous players I have ever seen play the game. Like me, he has always left no stone unturned in his quest to fight for the honorable people of this great city. I've always said that when you put on the red shirt, look to the 96 spirits in the sky and play like your life depends on it that the loyal and wonderful fans of this historical club will always hold a special place for you in their warm and generous hearts. We will pay our respects to the wonderful memories that Steven has given to this fine club and use them to positively move forward in this magnificent clubs pursuit of not only progress but also success, and look to add further triumph and prosperity to our outstanding history.

Like me, he was and always will be a true leader of men. Thank You Steven."

with plenty of teeth flashes involved.

Phil McNulty

BBC Sport chief football writer at Anfield

"Anfield is suddenly eerily subdued after that thunderous and emotional reception for Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard before kick-off, which he shared with his children and after a guard of honour from Crystal Palace's players. Anfield is now waiting for a Gerrard "moment" - and history suggests he will deliver."
