Gerrard looked well off the pace. I think they should have replaced him in the Summer, but they daren't for sentimental reasons.

Why are people ruled by fear? All our coaching staff have to do is quitely give him the eldery statesman role. If Scholes and Lampard can spend the latter years of their careers on the bench at the Rags and Chelsea, then why can't Gerrard be benched?
He got slaughtered in post match phone ins last night. I think it is a little too early to write him off. He's just played against the Champions, in the second game of the season, and we do have a very strong midfield. I think Liverpool fans should hold fire until he gets bossed around by the likes of the Rags etc.

One commentator said last night how Gerard was bossing the midfield and giving yaya the runaround lol

Gerrard has shot his bolt so to speak, he knows it and so does everybody else, he will do ok against the lesser clubs but he will always be exposed against the big teams, in addition to the natural life cycle of a professional footballer at this level, he has lost confidence and that has further diminished his performance & ability. The dippers wont have the bottle to bench him but they will be murdered in the CL if they stick with him.. Hope they stick with him..!!

Gerrard is completely shot. He was absolutely toss for England and Pirlo taught him a footballing lesson. Pirlo and Scholes could put the ball on a 50p piece from 50 yards. Gerrard might do that once in every 5 attempts. He can't do the same job. He was all about direct play and quick attacking movement, now his legs have gone so has he. Last season was it, and he fell away in the last few weeks.

Man

I LOVE Brendan Rodgers SOO MUCH

HUMBLE, HUMAN, CLASS, HES SO MUCH DIFFERENT TO ANY OTHER TOP TEAM MANAGERS..

Sorry caps, but seriously, Brendan has done excellent!

He's such a great role model for being HUMAN. Love it.
Haha!
Delusional. Let's analyse this:

HUMAN: No way, he looks like a dolphin
HUMBLE: Didn't he win the league last year? At least he has created a club like no other.
CLASS: Probably the most embarassing goal celebration by managers out there, Maureen included.

Rapidly become my least favourite manager.
Maybe the dipper is talking about MP??

The mourners won't drop Saint Stevie - he's an institution on Miseryside, so he'll carry on as long as his ego allows him, and that could be for quite some time.
His pace has gone, and the ability to read a game is on the way out too.
He's like a footballing Morrissey - decent a while back, but now fast becoming embarrassing.
Only Morrissey, to the best of my knowledge, has never met Ronnie Whelan's daughter.

He can, but for so long he has been integral to LFC. They need another midfielder, not necessarily one who plays exactly the same role, and perhaps if he was dropped someone else would find it easier to take on the mantle.

He's still got something to offer, but LFC and Rodgers are in a difficult position with him as his powers are on the wane.

I do hope the dippers enjoy their Champions League 'experience' this season.
Because based on what I saw last night they most certainly won't be in it again next season.
Joe Allen, Courtinho & Henderson in midfield is just not going to be anywhere near enough.
Enjoy it this season scouse boys,

Gerrard for me has been finished as a top player ever since the Mickeys lost Mascherano and Xavi Alonso and that was years ago now. I did think he had a pretty decent game last night though.

They relied on Suarez for a lot of the creativity when they were going forward and that midfield trio isn't going to replace that. Mario is the great hope but as good as he can be, Mario is no Suarez. Also both us and Southampton clearly showed we'd sussed out how to play them. They got no room behind the back four last night, whereas they did in the two games last season. Other teams will have worked that out as well and without Suarez to drag the defenders all over the place they might well struggle to create as many chances. I was impressed with Mark over and think he'll cause some problems. He and Moreno caused havoc down our right until Navas came on and nullified the threat.

God, they've got a horn on for us over at RAWK.
Apparently, we'll have to content ourselves with a maximum of one point from our first two games because Newcastle and their lot are so much fitter than us.
Hmmm... hasn't quite gone to plan for the, has it?

Because GBH picks the team.

Last season it was tempting to defend deep against LFC to nullify Sterling and Sturridge but not many did it as it would leave Suarez the master dribbler on the edge of your box. Now teams can do it without fear

I suspect LFC will be top 6 but face a struggle to get 4th. Depends on how teams like Spurs, and Everton do. And as you say Mario. This is Mario's last chance. He should be super-motivated but no one knows with him.

Looked like he was trying to escape last night

I think they will be this seasons Spurs. Signings that Rodgers has made way too many and these players will all think they should be starting week in week out. There will be a moody dressing room come November if he cant find a way to keep all the new players and old players happy. Also this weekend they go to Spurs I just think Spurs have now got a team after a year of spending huge money on players they now look like a team so far. I think they will be fighting it out for a top 4 this season if they can get a goalscorer to score 20 odd goals this season. I expect Spurs to add some more misery to Liverpool this weekend.
