Balotelli will earn around £180k/week before tax according to Di Marzio. Goal says they've offered Eto'o £75k/week for a one year deal. Suarez was on around £200k.

They've also signed Can, Lallana, Lambert, Markovic, Lovren, Manquillo and Moreno in fairly high profile deals.

Their main sales besides Suarez have been Martin Kelly and Pepe Reina.

Now unless I'm mistaken, domestic FFP has a rule where you can only raise your wage bill by a little bit (£3m a year is it?). But this seems, on paper at least, to be going far beyond that. Am I misunderstanding something with Premier League FFP?
Yes
The rules don't apply to the Sky Four

After Rodgers and his men returned home to their fortress news began to filter through of another army desperate to take apart Rodger’s men. This was no small army. This was the army known as “The City”. The City had been drowned in wealth, gold and precious stones further than the eye could see. Money was no object for the City and their rulers were as wealthy as anyone had ever known. This in turn meant a few things. 1. Everyone wanted to destroy them and ransack their City and 2. It also meant they were able to buy up the finest army to defend them that the world had ever seen. Each and every soldier was cloaked in the finest weaponry and armour that had been created and the City had also bought every soldier that they could. Rodgers eyes flickered with delight. Fear was not something he knew anymore. He craved this fight more than any other that had gone before him. He welcomed The City to come and fight him on his home soil, the soil he knew his men would fight like dogs to protect. Rodgers was not worried about the weapons, the glamour or strength of the army coming to face him and his men. He knew they could win. He wanted this scalp to add to the already many that he had already taken. He needed this one and would stop at nothing to get it. His men had a fire that burnt within. They lusted the blood of any that opposed them and they could smell it marching down the hill

i do love rawk ;-)

Is this serious? Fucking hell!
Typical thieving scousers.

So what difficult players has Brenda managed then?
He didn't even try with Andy Carroll, and I don't call blindly defending Suarez and kissing his arse constantly 'man management' - it was more a case of desperately trying to keep hold of him, which didn't fucking work!
I'm gonna get me some popcorn, cos its gonna be great watching the fireworks (pun intended) at Anfield.

Why would he? He's shit

Yes, it only applies to Premier League TV money. Essentially it's to prevent clubs gambling their future on speculative Premier League TV income (like Leeds did with Champions League money) - only to be relegated. So there are no wage growth restrictions on clubs who can raise the money on match day income and commercial deals. It's much much better than UEFA's FFP. There's still issues with it but at least some of the provisions are more clearly aimed at helping clubs relegated from the Premier League avoid administration whereas UEFA's FFP is just a cartels charter.

Forget the premier league FFP, surely they are going to fail actual FFP? Haven't they lost huge amounts the past two years? Then this year they negate any CL revenue by spending so much on transfers, then wages? I know members of a certain group of clubs accounts aren't exactly going to be heavily scutinised, but surely they are miles off passing? It would fucking hilarious with all the shit the dipper fans have been throwing around about us tbh.

They lost around £100m in 2011/12 and 2012/13, they received around £40m extra in TV money and £10m extra from the warrior deal, but had higher costs due to new contracts and new signings with little to no money gained from player outs, depends on how much they're allowed to discount. This season won't affect it though.

If I had been asked this morning who I fancied for fourth I honestly would have said Everton.

The Mickeys when they sign Mario have almost certainly bought it back. They may even sneak third if lightening strikes twice on Arsenal as far as injuries to key players are concerned.

LOL
It will not happen, brenda with an ego bigger than the dippers entire team will over see an implosion with no plan B. No background or maturity to handle the mixed bag of personalities he has panic bought.
The guy is a won nothing shyster, this season will see his lack of tactical ability and inexperience badly exposed.
He does have shiny teeth though and has ditched his long suffering wife for a squeaking long legged bimbo.
Wonder if we could ever get confirmation of the fool's rumored chequered past
mishaps , all brushed under the carpet till now.
Roll on Monday, 4-0 to Gods own team.

Rogers would be a good number two at a good club.

I rate him around the same level as the current Villa Manager and perhaps slightly ahead of the likes of Steve Bruce.

I would have thought he would have been a good fit for us before we got Sven if he had been available then.

Anybody disagree?

I do. I think he's a very good manager, nobody expected Liverpool to challenge for the title last season, and but for Gerrard slipping on his backside, they very nearly did it, which would have been a remarkable achievement. In a short space of time, he's turned them right around from the dross they were under Dalglish and Hodgson. The likes of Moyes and Hughes failed to cut it at the top, but he's bucked that trend, he's a modern manager unlike a lot of the British dinosaurs that are around in the Premier League. I would like to see someone like him in charge of England, because he does know his stuff. I get why people don't like him, he seems a bit of a vain character, who likes the sound of his voice, but I like him as a manager.

100% agree.

I would say the exact opposite. They would have thrown away any chance they had od finishing fourth.
They will be playing with ten men for half the season. And I'm not talking about his red cards and suspensions.

100% agree.

I agree too, although the Palace game showed he's still got stuff to learn. Strip away the hubris, though, and he had a phenomenal season.

Last season was up there with Benitez winning the CL - a mixture of luck, good management, and getting that twat Suarez firing on all cylinders without biting anyone until the WC. The guy deserves credit for all this, but still looks like a nonce, or like he has had surgery to look different from a photo-fit picture.

The Southampton game showed he had learnt from last season. When they went 2-1 up he went defensive and held onto what they had got unlike the gung ho tactics of last season.

Absolutely. He's a young manager who can be quite tactically naive and learning his trade, but he's doing a lot of the processes correctly and is improving young players.

Just like they did at Palace last season?
