Dear Brendan Rodgers,

Re: Free Advice

I appreciate the turnaround. I really do, and I never called for your head. I consistently said you should be allowed to figure things out and work through your troubles. You are showing that you have the ability to do so to your credit. That said, I'm all for optimism and everything--and I think the team has a huge upside, but would you kindly please STOP TALKING ABOUT FINISHING SECOND? Just get to fourth place and hold it first. Then let's see what's up.

His overbearing and nauseating personality aside, I've seen nothing from Rodgers to suggest he is the managerial genius he seems to think he is. He's proven on numerous occasions to be tactically naive, but then again so has Pellegrini.
I think the current state of the rest of the Prem has more to do with Liverpool's position than any managerial brilliance.
Their current form has them where they are supposed to be, let's not forget what they have spent. Liverpool are performing at the level they are supposed to.
Rodgers deserves no praise for that.
Liverpool are top of the form league for the last six matches. Are you suggesting that is the level they are 'supposed to' be at?

You seem, therefore, to be suggesting that they have the best squad in English football.

I meant the season as a whole. Everyone goes through good and bad spells. Their league position is about right.

I agree with this. Fifth is about right for them, but fourth would be a good season. Let's see where they come. I don't think Tottenham/Liverpool are particularly strong at the moment, but they do have a lot of young players that should keep on improving. Kane, Erikson, Bentaleb, Sterling, Can, Sakho, Coutinho etc can all improve a lot in the coming years.

Personally I don't see why either Tottenham or Liverpool are so obsessed with getting top 4. I know the extra money will come in handy, but it's not like either team have the prestige at the moment to attract world class players. Unlike for City/Arsenal/Chelsea/United who have teams nearer their prime, are more attractive and need to win things now.

I think both teams could do with a great showing in the Europa League alongside a great league run like Atletico did or Wolfsburg are doing.

Great manager is Rodgers. Wouldn't mind him as Pellers' replacement as long as he leaves the Nazi salutes and dog bothering in Liverpool.

I don't know if I could stand him, but he does ironically play exactly the sort of football we're supposed to be playing. There are still question marks over him though, particularly with his ability to organise a defence.

Quality attacking football, with both tempo and incisive passing.
Flexible tactics.
Excellent development of young players.
Best gnashers in the business.

If Pep or Ancelotti aren't available... He's the man to bring in the next cycle of success at City

In terms of this debate I'm not interested in his abilities as a coach. He is utterly unbearable as a person. I would really struggle to come to terms with him at the helm, I have to say. He is an insufferable ****.
