Because they thrive on misery and excuses pal. They love the "unlucky" more than the actual win.

They appreciate Steven Gerrard as a plucky local lad who was hard done by, never winning the premier league despite him being the greatest ever midfielder in the league in their eyes. Completely ignoring the fact he grew up an Everton fan, handed in a transfer request and only removed it when moving to Chelsea because local thugs threatened him, and he was made look good by various foreign players in the side over the years, from Xabi Alonso, to Dietmar Hammann, to Torres, to Suarez and many more in between. A media trained dirtbag who has actively gotten several managers fired over the years, most recently Rodgers and Hodgson before that. They've picked and chosen facts and mixed them with mythology to make Gerrard out to be something he never was.

They endlessly defend disgusting actions. From racism by one of their players, to bottling opponents buses. It's not just a minority of fans. It's in the clubs DNA. Just watch the former players(all on payroll) endlessly be interviewed to spew the official line.("Suarez wasn't racist", "City's arab money is ruining football" , "Sterling is disgusting and a cancer for wanting to leave Liverpool" and many more)

Their people have an underlying hatred of all things City since we were taken over, and it's pure racism at it's base. It's a classic case of "someone foreign is doing better than us" and the media are more than happy to peddle that line as it fits with their brexit/xenophobistic agenda. Liverpool fans can't even comprehend this and just think it's consensus, when it's just using them to convey a narrative they don't comprehend.

They again, re-write a narrative blissfully ignorant of it attacking themselves. No team spews "City have no histree" line more than Liverpool. The actual fact is they had no history of note until the relatively recent 1970's. So if any club in the premier league has no history, it's Liverpool. "City are a sugar daddies club", when in fact Liverpool benefitted from huge financial doping in the 1970's by the Littlewood's family, who ploughed money into them to make them relevant so the lower classes there would waste money on gambling in Littlewood's Pools. Again, they don't even understand they are the most guilty of the charges they throw out there.

So back to last Sat.

They got what they wanted.

They wanted an excuse.

More than a trophy, this lot feed off the victim narrative. They were robbed. They were hard done by. Karius.

They haven't, for a single second thought that Real would have beaten them with or without Salah. I'm not saying they would have, merely that Liverpool don't care. They have an excuse. Therefore, they are happy.

I'd suggest you go and look into the "history" of that club before defending them, you are showing yourself as unaware of what they truly are. You'll learn plenty from reading this thread going forward and if you truly follow City, you'll see it for yourself going forward as Liverpool's hatred of us is only getting started.

Look at the some of the biggest bust ups in recent history on and off the field and surprise surprise one team always seems to be involved namely the mighty reds from the poor side of the Mersey.

At least they had the Beatles or did they?

They don't sing many of their songs any more and it is Gerry the underdog who sings loudest.

Of course it is just bad luck that these things happened.

They are their own worst enemy and as you say thrive on being the " scorned and the abused " .

They let a manager from Scotland over take them and now think a would be German can take them to the promised land.

Let him be replaced by the Evertonian himself after his sojourn in Scotland and watch them fly.

@CityInWashingtonState, this is a good post, that tells it pretty much as it is. I didn't know that Gerrard grew up as an Everton fan, I have to say. There's just one thing missing from this post, though: their deafening silence about Heysel.
And it's true that they seem to have a particular hatred of City, now. My theory is that it's because they see us as having taken their God-given right to a place at the top table. Yes, us specifically. But if RAWK's anything to go by (I know that some Liverpool supporters disown it) they actually hate everyone. And everyone hates them in return.

Afterthought: even Redcafé gave us credit for the football that we played this year. And I spoke to United fans who were generous about us. It pained them, but they had to own up and admit that we'd played wonderful football. Not LIverpool F.C. supporters.

The teams that seem to hate us the most are the ones that we took players off despite them thinking they're bigger than us. When a professional footballer leaves you because they think another team offers a better chance of trophies, that's a measure of who the bigger club is. Especially when we follow it up by actually proving the decision right. And that can be a bitter pill to swallow for some fans who are used to being the top dogs. Villa were the first ones to hate us, then Arsenal, and since Sterling left, Liverpool. I'm sure that they hate us more because Sterling joined us than they do for us beating them to the title.
