In this modern day it's unbelievable that some people have religion that rules their life. Is it in the Koran that says women can't drive? What about eating pork? That's no worse (or better) than eating a chicken, ffs it's all made up bollocks by "experts" and "preachers". I don't mind people having faith but look at it with an open mind, believing what a preacher said two thousand years ago using what he thought was empirical objectively takes some getting used to.

Certainly the Christian faith in general baffles me. Basically it stems from a collection of stories about something that may or may not have happened to someone who may or may not existed, which were cobbled together in a book called the Old Testament.

These stories were reportedly told by different characters, from different times in history, and were probably handed down through generations, and probably somewhat embellished by the time they were written down. It is also highly likely that the original translations were not entirely accurate, and that every subsequent translation was not entirely accurate either.

Then there is the New Testament, and the King James version, which were basically cherry picked from the Old Testament, embellished further, then used as a tool to control the masses by those in power. There is probably very little if anything at all of the original 2000 year old story in the King James version of the Bible. Still, everyone knows Jesus was a 6ft, long brown haired, white Hippy; right?

Anyhow, religion probably deserves its own thread (if it doesn't already have one).

Cult's on the other hand.......... Dippers win hands down!

I was watching a Western (can’t remember which one) a couple of years ago, and in one scene, an Indian scout is explaining to some emissary from Washington the religious ceremony that they were observing.

At the end of the explanation, the white man stated that it’s all based on superstition, to which the scout replied something like, "Isn’t Christianity too?"

That is the case for all denominations of all religions, IMHO.

Apart from the one that is worshipped at Etihad, of course.

;-)
