Nobody has mentioned Liverpool's River Fedtival was on at the same time and attracts 100,000's of visitors over the Weekend. https://www.theriverfestival.co.uk ( let's go and watch the parade)

So, a perfect storm. Sunday, River Festival, etc.

Another interesting thing. First it was 500,000, then it jumped by 250,000 to 750,000(Joe Anderson, the leader of LCC, stated that figure), then it went over 750,000.

Liverpool's population is 450,000, so they were all there, including Everton fans. Or the Merseyside population is just over 2,000,000, so 1/3 of them were there. The whole route, and the full length of the Strand, should have been rammed. But it wasn't. The section of the Strand near the Liver building looked good. But that was close to the end of the parade, and close to the River Festival. The end of the strand near Princes Dock, which is the beginning of the Strand was basically empty.

I smell Scouse bullshit. Well done Joe. Great bit of PR for quoting that 750,000 parade figure, that has gone viral. As the leader of the city council, you have done a great job.

I was thinking exactly the same.
750,000 spread along 8 miles would be 30 deep along each side of the road for the full length of the route. How did all those people get there without causing massive congestion across the whole of the North West?
In reality I bet there was no more than 100,000 extra on top of the tens of thousands that were in Liverpool for the River Festival. That's not a bad achievement but I don't know why the dippers feel the need to exaggerate to such an unbelievable extent.

The scenes at the Waterfront were good but it was the mayor of Liverpool who first stated that there were 750,000. Not one single travel twitter account in Liverpool reported traffic issues anywhere, nor did Northern or TransPennine report any major issues.

You'd think if twice the number of people than residents were in a city there would be some major ravel chaos?

Yeah, Ravel Morrison causing chaos.
No surprise really...;)

Klopp reckons Pep told him they would both be "kicking each other's butts next season"

What you meant, Jurgen, is that Pep said he will kick your butts....

Bring it on, you deluded dipper dreamers !!

YNWA.

A Liverpool fan has been arrested for ‘pleasuring himself like a gorilla’ in front of supporters at tonight’s Champions League final before attacking an Italian tourist and police. The Brit, who has not been named, was pictured in front of a large crowd Madrid’s Puerta de Sol, one of the official ‘party squares’ for this year’s final. The 33-year-old was described as ‘very drunk’ and was in custody by the time Liverpool FC took to the field and went on to beat Tottenham 2-0. An eyewitness said the man climbed on to fencing by a stage and took all his clothes off to loud cheers before plastic cups were thrown at him – at which point ‘things turned very nasty’.

They said: ‘The man exposed himself, and then began to pleasure himself like he was a gorilla. ‘An Italian woman objected to what the fan was doing, and tried to remonstrate. ‘She then accused the man of putting his hand up her skirt, and when she complained further he hit her round the head. ‘She was badly hurt and needed attention from ambulance workers.’ The witness says the woman was taken to hospital for a scan and then gave a description of the man to police. The square was swarming with officers and the man reportedly started punching them when they tried to arrest him at a bar just off the Puerta de Sol. And was eventually pulled away and taken away in handcuffs.

It is three miles from Anfield to the Pier Head. They didn't go via Warrington!

The Strand. ^^^^^

Let’s be fair. Near the Liver building, there’s a great turn out, and a great fan bottle neck. Let’s give them that. But at the top end of the Strand, past the cruise liner, near Princes Dock, the Strand, going down towards the Liver building, is patchy at best, and then begins to fill out. As you get out of shot, that’s where the parade ended, as it turned off the Strand. Apparently it was full there as well? 750,000 turnout, even along other parts of the route, no chance.

They went from Childwall along Queens Drive and didn't go near Anfield.

That's another reason its bollocks. Closing Queens Drive would have ground the city to a standstill so how did everyone get there?
