I think the keeper signing is a huge step forward for them. The shite they had in nets last year held them back. I think they will be thereabouts this year if they don’t suffer any major injuries and depending on how far they go in Europe.

I'm not sure it's that much of an upgrade. Everyone remembers Karius's fuck ups in the CL Final, but he was pretty solid during the league season. In fact. I'm struggling to recall any errors at all that cost Liverpool. And if you judged goalies by one game, you would kick out Ederson on the basis of the Anfield League game last year and the Arsenal away game this season. And despite the wank-fest over Allisson, he looked quite ordinary in the CL matches I saw him in last year.

Alot is being made of the GK situation at Liverpool, to me it just shows the totally impartial UK media are hopeful Alisson will have a similar impact at Liverpoo as Ederson had for City, willing it to happen more than reacting to anything they've seen so far if you like.

I've changed my mind on whether I think they've overpaid for him though. I think our Ederson transfer is a lot like Salah's transfer for Liverpool, if we were buying a forward remotely on his level this summer we'd easily be paying double what they paid for him. Which is what they had to do for Alisson, the market has changed and there's just not many keepers of that calibre around. We were lucky to get Ederson before the prices jumped really.

Although I rate Ederson higher than Alisson and think he's not really done much at the highest level to warrant the favouritism over Ederson he gets(who has more than impressed in a better league, before that he turned heads in the CL with Benfica), despite that I do think he looks the real deal and is a huge upgrade on what they had. Ederson being better doesn't make Alisson shit all of sudden to my eyes.
