Thats why i wrote "maybe" if Suarez didn't take a chunk out of Ivanovic they could have added more points.

They had a really talented team in the 90's but reading the Spice Boy stuff is a great read, its the most unprofessional stuff you will read. Its funny that Stanley said he tried to distance himself away from that and say he wasnt part of it, but he was bedding the gaffers daughter and getting ophimself in fisticuffs every other night clubbing

Cant wait for the match, i dont see us being challengers at all, the media want it to sound a three horse race buts its just between two teams. I guess a draw would suit us
That really talented spice boy side in the 1990s was not as good as the rags, as indicated by points gaps and that white suit cup final. Just realised you are a spurs fan and nearly got the wrong end of the stick with us not being challengers!

It’s difficult highlighting their hypocrisy and double standards without bringing those two events up though Ric.
I think Hillsborough should be left alone.

Wonder how Winter reported all the team and Sir Kenny wearing Suarez t-shirts during the whole racism saga, good principles again.

I don't think there's any room on here for some of the stuff that was posted about Heysel and Hillsborough tbh. Let's just keep it about the football.

As to Hillsborough, Liverpool fans were exonerated from blame by an independent inquiry and were disgracefully scapegoated for political reasons by sections of the press, the government and South Yorkshire police. Anyone using Hillsborough as a stick to beat them with really needs to learn more about why they were scapegoated and what the conspiracy to blame them involved.

Heysel came about because thousands of Liverpool fans drunk and looted and fought their way around the City all day, and the thoughtless and criminal actions of a sizeable section of their support caused 39 deaths. Their efforts to avoid responsibility for Heysel are utterly despicable.

Completely agree with both of these assertions.

It’s also worthwhile adding that many Liverpool fans wouldn’t so readily invite such comments about Heysel if a sizeable proportion of them didn’t endlessly (and tiresomely) pontificate about what a ‘unique’ and ‘special’ club they support. They are by a discernible distance the worst culprits in that regard - significantly worse than the rags. It is, of course, natural for football supporters to try and elevate their club to an extent, but they take it to such absurd and wholly inconsistent levels, that such comments frequently demand a response along those lines, in order to serve to remind them of a disgusting and avoidable human tragedy that their supporters caused, which many of them still seek to avoid, or deny appropriate responsibility for - club apparatchiks and supporters alike.

I think in those circumstances, making reference to Heysel is entirely justified and proportionate. Exposing hypocrisy can rarely be a bad thing.

Hillsborough, however, is entirely separate and distinct, and any attempt to conflate the two demonstrates a confused and wholly unsophisticated understanding of the two tragedies, their backstories and what ultimately allowed them to occur.

Notice Lovren keeps popping up recently with bullish interviews about Liverpool’s great run of form and title chances.

You’d think he’d been instrumental in it all, not just getting a couple of games due to injury to others.

More than happy for him to keep talking - hope he starts tonight ;-)

Yep. The Hillsborough cover-up was an attack on all football fans, not just Liverpool fans, and it would've happened regardless of which set of fans were affected that day. Unfortunately, club rivalries mean that some fans - of all clubs - will continue to lay part or all of the blame at the door of the Liverpool fans. While I can understand those on RAWK being miffed that this forum has posters who hold that view, it's hardly exclusive to City fans (They should hear what some United fans have to say about it for example, which is kind of ironic as for years United fans were guilty to at least an equal or worse extent of doing all the things they accused Liverpool fans of getting up to that day). It's also worth pointing out that there was an excellent thread about Hillsborough on this forum in the wake of the completion of the last inquiry, a debate that was so informative that it was lauded by Liverpool fans in the Hillsborough section on RAWK.

I remember Michael Thomas messing them up one year and they winning it the year after. They had the ability in the Roy Evans reign but they dicked around too much, lacked one or too players under Rafa to win and maybe should have won it when they had Suarez. This is probably their best shot I've seen them have in many years

We were missing a bench in both 2009 and 2014. We had game changers like Andriy Voronin, David N’Gog and Nabil El Zhar in that Rafa team :(.

Wish I had been able to get a ticket for this. It’s going to be great. Hopefully the atmosphere inside will be amazing.
Come on Blues, time to step up.

Was an awful performance by us. Can’t complain with 2-1. How it only ended 2-1 though. Should’ve been 4-1. Reminiscent of the PSG away match (not as bad as Napoli away though).

Lovren is quite possibly the worst defender in the Premier League. Already confirmed in my previous posts. He needs to become our next Markovic. Hopefully Oldham or Notts County may take him on loan.

10 points or maybe 7 points would’ve made for a really interesting title run in as our customary bad run came along, would’ve been so close, but 4 points won’t even see a title race lol. Won’t even be biting my nails. We’ll get our customary defeat at OT and Chelsea always take something from Anfield let alone all the reminding games. Took some of City at 2/1 for the title, wish I’d taken a lot more. Now to watch the media try to make up some proper title challenge stories lmao.

Fernandinho ran the show. Sane was quality as always. Only one of our midfielders was up to the challenge but the second he got booked early on I get we would be in trouble.

I’ve got tickets for the Bournemouth game though, and might be able to squeeze some Leicester tickets so hopefully we win those games to make for a good weekends.

Don't understand the hate, really, but that's probably cuz I don't live in the area. I think you guys should be proud about the way you played. Grinding it a result getting 4-1 against the biggest rival. No matter what you will have bragging rights.
