Interesting times for the Premier League and PiGMOL. Which is the bigger story that would boost their brand. Liverpool winning the league or the Rags "Miraculously" making the top 4?

I maybe overrating Liverpool and underrating the rest but Spurs at home, maybe and Chelsea at home is another maybe. Other than that, I am struggling. They are away at fodder that will be looking to keep the score down and get points elsewhere

No they won’t. Had they been playing in November that might’ve have been right, but teams who are worrying about relegation can’t afford to do that. Every game against a team with fewer than 40 points at this stage is a cup final.

yep I expect the fodder to play like Bournemouth against us, The way Liveprool set up its not as difficultt as against a side like City, minimise the space for the front 3 in behind and force the midfield to create the chances and henerdson, milner, wijnaldum tend go go into crab mode and it usually ends up going backwards to vvd or the full backs in the hope the opposition press leaving spaces to launch the ball to the front 3. Even if they dont lose another game all season i can envisage a few draws that'll hopefully secure them 2nd.

They will actually face teams who will press them: teams who can’t do much to raise their game with the ball can still do much to be good without the ball.

And very slippery when wet;)

I've actually just watched the Palace/Dippers 3-3 on YouTube. The brief clip of those scousers at the end, head in hands, sobbing in utter despair, was fantastic. The helpless look on Bodger's disproportionally huge face when he realises it's over...just beautiful! And now I want to see the exact same anguish engraved on that gurning Broadmoor escapee, Klipperty.

Was it this....

Weird seeing Raheem playing for that god awful shower.

Liverpool are in a similar position this season. They know they might need to win by a few to get goal difference back in their favour and might push on a bit too much in search of more goals. They're good defensively but can they see out a tight 1-0 when the pressure is well and truly on?!

This is because we played later than thm for that match-weekend

So only ever 7pts clear at the end of the match weekend
They were still ten points clear.

As they’ve just shown with the last two draws, having a game in hand counts for little if you don’t win them.

Out of interest, before they played Everton, were they or were they not 2 points behind?

Also everyone remembers Newcastle blowing a 12 point lead but no one remembers United had a game in hand that season also.

Liverpool end of season league form under Klopp:

March 2015 - P4 W3 D0 L1
April 2015 - P4 W1 D1 L2
May 2015 - P4 W1 D1 L2

March 2016 - P3 W2 D0 L1
April 2016 - P5 W3 D2 L0
May 2016 - P4 W1 D2 L1

March 2017 - P3 W2 D1 L0
April 2017 - P5 W3 D1 L1
May 2017 - P4 W3 D1 L0

March 2018 - P4 W3 D0 L1
April 2018 - P4 W1 D3 L0
May 2018 - P2 W1 D0 L1

March 2019 - P1 W0 D1 L0

March Overall - P15 W10 D2 L3 - Dropped an average of 2.6 points (13/5) per March, already dropped 2 this month.
April Overall - P18 W8 D7 L3 - Dropped an average of 5.75 points (23/4) per April.
May Overall - P14 W6 D4 L4 - Dropped an average of 5 points (20/4) per May.

There hasn't been a March, April or May where Liverpool under Klopp have won every league game. So touch wood they keep this up.

For comparison, City end of season league form under Pep:

March 2017 - P3 W1 D2 L0
April 2017 - P6 W2 D3 L1
May 2017 - P4 W4 D0 L0

March 2018 - P4 W4 D0 L0
April 2018 - P4 W3 D0 L1
May 2018 - P3 W2 D1 L0

March 2019 - P1 W1 D0 L0

March Overall - P8 W6 D2 L0 - Dropped an average of 1.33 points per March.
April Overall - P10 W5 D3 L2 - Dropped an average of 6 points per April.
May Overall - P7 W6 D1 L0 - Dropped an average of 1 point per May.

April looks like the defining month both in terms of the fixture schedule and the past performances. We're a lot better in March and May.

They've dropped 9 points in the final 3 months across the past 2 seasons. They do that this year and they finish on 90 points, we should beat that, they've dropped 2 so far.

Well done on the research mate. Good to see some OC on here that you wouldn't normally find in the press.

"Bar is set so high, it would be brutal to call Liverpool finishing second this year a 'failure'"

All of these "IT'S NOT BOTTLING" articles all manage to overlook the fact that it doesn't matter if they were underdogs in August. What matters is that we slipped up and gave them a 7 point lead. Fate handed them an opportunity to kill the league in January, and they couldn't take it. Then we gave them another chance at Newcastle and they couldn't take it.

If Usain Bolt falls on his face and you pull 15m ahead of him and he still catches you and wins then one of 2 things have happened.

1) You fucked up.
2) You're not that good.

Either liverpool have fucked up royally by letting 8 points slip, or they are just so fucking inferior to us that they never had a chance - in which case what's to be proud of?

I would love it if, every club fans they still have to play sung Blue Moon if they went ahead in a game, or at the end if they took points off them

Do you remember back in 2012 we beat Newcastle in the early game and Swansea were at the Swamp later. For most of the second half the Swansea fans were singing the Mancini song. Small time I know but made my day.

What is Merson’s problem with us? He criticised Klopp on the debate but then says he shouldn’t be worried about us as we won’t win all 9 games. Why are we any less likely to win them all than Liverpool? I just can’t grasp why so many pundits, even those with no affiliation to the dippers want to see them win the league.

He’s thick.
