From the front page of the online Guardian today...

Across Liverpool, there are calls for an investigation into the government’s handling of the pandemic. “There needs to be an inquiry into whether lockdown came soon enough to prevent these large scale gatherings,” says Liverpool’s metro mayor, Steve Rotheram. “We’ve been hard hit.” Jamie and Mary back the calls, too. “I’m not just doing this for my dad, but for all the people who lost their lives because of the game,” says Jamie. “That’s why we’re pushing for an inquiry. And we’ll get one.” (edit... will you be paying for that, or do you expect the tax paying mugs in the rest of the country to fund it like they had to for the last one?)

...very sad and all that... but YOU wanted that match played for one of your 'famous under the floodlights European nights' (nothing to do with not being able to intimidate the opposition if you weren't allowed anywhere near the ground of course).

The next paragraph sums up what a whining bunch of self pitying tossers they really are...

As with Hillsborough, the pandemic has scarred the city. “Scousers have long memories,” says Ashton. “It will be in there.” It may be years before the city recovers. “Liverpool is a community,” says Mary. “We’ve all got a sense of humour. It’s a city of laughter. But I don’t think there will be much laughter after this. It took the city years to come to terms with Hillsborough. And now this.”

...
pass the vomit bucket "we're so special"... yeah right, you're a bunch of thin skinned wankers who can dish it out but not take it.
they do this every time they are criticised - drop in the hillsborough get out of jail card. personally i know people who died there and families involved in the justice campaign. i find the fact they casually use it to show indignation at a statement more sad than those who use it. the club themselves seem fine with using it as a commercial tool.

How indulgent is that Guardian article? - pages of it giving the impression that what happend in Liverpool is especially tragic. Tell that to all the front line workers who stepped up - often with inadequate PPE - to be counted when duty called. I think they are far more deserving of sympathy and any potential public enquriry than some fan who could have opted out of attending that match and isolated when it became known that the area was a virus hotspot. As for that Spirit of Shankley muppet having the brass neck to comment after his garbage about Dippers not congregating after the title win - words fail me!

Somewhat interestingly, not much 'cos it is Liverpool, The Athletic today pens an article suggesting that they will 'have to cut their coat' according to remnants of cloth they can find, not including any bolts of fine worsted they can nick from Yorkshire woollen mills. Even so, the RDAHMeedya will hail any purchase as the finest bit of business since Shanks showed off Ron Yeats.
For some reason, Barcelona paid approx 160 million for Coutinho. Gifts like this come around once in a blue moon and aided the purchase of van Dijk and Allison. We shall now see how generous the Yanks truly are. My guess is not very; hence Klopp’s “meltdown” following the CAS verdict.

you do realise that you have to ask their permission before you talk about them ;-)

from SOS group in regards comments mayor joe anderson said-

The Mayor has chosen to speak out on a hypothetical matter, namechecking Liverpool FC supporters without discussion with those fans or fan groups.

There is no evidence to support the Mayor’s perception that Liverpool supporters will break any lockdown regulations and gather outside of Anfield should football be resumed and played behind closed doors.

LFC, in their statement on the matter, refer to their engagement with supporters’ groups.

SOS raised this issue with the club, back on 13 March, ten days before lockdown began. We agreed then a determination to respect social-distancing measures and, in the event of a resumption of football, we would continue to work together, along with other key stakeholders, in achieving this objective

no, no, no, no, no... you've got it all wrong... those front line workers were asking for it... it was their own fault...except the ones from victimtown, where, as in the case of the attendees at that match, it was all somebody else's fault.

When will they (LFC and its Fans) start to really call out the shocking and borderline inhumane behaviour of a significant majority of their own. The Mayor stated that their fans could not be trusted to behave during the tittle win and he was attacked by fans, current LFC employees and ex players on social media, but he was proven to be right in the end.

The club like it's fans lack moral values and integrity.

Hang on...have I missed something?

I caught the back end of a Ferguson interview yesterday or early hours of this morning saying that he forgave someone for waking him up at 3:30 in the morning to tell him Liverpool had won the league. Now I just saw a headline saying it was Bingo who had phoned him.

Is this true? Staggering if so.

Et coulda Kelld im yooo no !!

Let have an independent enquiry in to the premeditated, organised, heavily publicised and club supported riot that wrecked our bus in front of LittlewoodsNeverPool FC Police ( Trade Descritions Alert )
