That's the thing though, those things keep happening over and over again to the point where it's now routine. It's showing no signs of abating - we said the same thing last year and it didn't happen. It seems to have doubled this year, whilst it's hard to argue that we haven't regressed a bit so far from where we were last year.

Looking at it as rationally as possible, I think they will hit 100 points this year. In that case it would mean we only afford to drop six points from here on in. Six, with 27 games remaining. Do you see that as realistic, all things considered?.

You clearly didn't see last season where they started drawing games they were winning earlier in the season. How is it rational they will hit 100 points when they have never done it before and only one team has in PL history? If Mane or VVD get injured for a period of time, I reckon they will struggle to hit 90 points. And if we happen to turn them over at Anfield next week, I think they will be scared shitless.

The big 6 thing is a Sky/BT Sport click-bait. United are beyond shit and Arsenal are a joke. No way either is among the best 6 in the country. That said, your schedule has been tougher than ours and you have done well to be 6 pts clear, albeit inflated by the usual dodgy penalties and other strange decisions.

Also not sure what you mean by 6 opponents left to play. After this match + 6 more, both teams will have played 18 games. Has there been some unbeknownst rule change that the PL trophy gets awarded at that point? I wouldn't put it past the FA but it would be news to me.
Liverpool always win the league in December. Shame the trophy is handed out in May.

Tend to agree that your ‘attacking style’ will suit us better than teams sitting back and defending as we saw yesterday. My big worry is our defence which will struggle against your hoof ball tactics, but if we win 9-8 I really don’t give a shit ;) As long as it is a fairly reffed game with no controversial shit, may the best team win.
Glad you agree that Airhead is a pain in the arse!

That's a bit harsh, @Airvent isn't the biggest twat to post on here , close perhaps but not quite ..............

Because they hit 97 last season and they seem to be even better/luckier/hungrier than then, given they're on 10 wins and one draw?. Plus, the teams they lost or drew to are comparatively weaker (Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham, Us, Everton) except for Leicester. They've already beaten Chelsea away where they drew last season.

..... and there it is, the voice of reason.

Absolutely nailed it. I've been saying similar for some time now. You know it makes me smile when I hear the likes of Sly Sports and the BBC (bless them) when they come out with "Liverpool restore their six point lead over Manchester City"

Restore? What happened to their eight points lead? Oh! Yes, that's right they dropped two bollocks to arguably the worst rag side since the dippers actually won their last league title.

Your spot on Klopp and his durable eleven strong team are the worst front runners in the game and we're the worst team on the planet to be up against in a title challenge.

Highlighting where we've dropped points, Man Utd came out and attacked us and maybe Klopp wasn't expecting that since we looked lost in the first half. I imagine City will do the same next week.

If we win next Sunday, (don't think that'll happen), it's 9 points clear of you with the same games played. Still early days but last year's run in would've given Liverpool a bit of mental strength. Far from over but I don't think 9 points adrift is relaxing territory. More like squeaky bum time. I'd take a draw right now.

Totally agree with your last point. Worst team to be up against in a title challenge. We, on the other hand, are the best team to be up against in a title challenge.

What does "6 opponents left to play" mean - and what is the special significance of next 6? You scousers (or wherever in the world you're from) always shoot your load prematurely

6 opponents left to play:- After we’ve faced each other we both have 6 teams left who we haven’t faced yet this season, as listed.

mmmm I would say City are one of the best to have graced Europe but I fail to see how you could say this present dipperpool team are. They arent a patch on the best RM, or Barca teams. They lost 4 and drew one to win the champs league something great teams dont do , lose that many times.
I think you need to watch more champions league and look into its history RM have won it for fun were as dipperpool have won it the same about of times as you have fingers on one hand ....
They are deluded.

To be fair, thus far, Airvent has been one of (if not the) most balanced Liverpool supporters posting on BM and I personally think they have helped to make this thread more of a reasonable ongoing discussion than an echo chamber, which is after all the point of these threads.

I know some would rather we bar all rival supporters from being able to post (especially Liverpool and United fans) but I think we would lose quite a bit of utility doing that. There is something to be said for having decent chats with fans of other clubs about City — many of us do it in the pubs without much issue so we should be able to do it on here. That said, as many a mod before me has point out, I think most would be genuinely surprised how strict we actually are when reviewing new user’s initial posts, meaning the majority of rival fans never make it on based on our almost immediate assessment that they are a WUM. And all users that do (rival fan or blue) are held to the same standard of conduct to be able to continue posting on BM, so there are a few that cross the line later and are banned.

We’ll continue to keep an eye on rival fans as they contribute to these threads but, as always, it’s much easier if instead of abusing them or starting a row when you see something you think is improper, you simply report the post with comment. This starts a mod review and discussion so we can determine any appropriate action, which could be anything from nothing (if we decide there is no issue) to removing the post and issuing a warning to temporary/permanent ban.

Ultimately, most of the moderation on the board is self-administrated by the upstanding blues on here, which is very much appreciated by all of the formal “mods” and goes a long way to keeping things flowing without the need for heavy intervention. This thread is a bit of a hotspot, in truth, but I do think it is getting better as more blues warm to having reasonable rival fans contributing. I think many even enjoy the discussion and light-hearted banter.

Anyway, rant done: Thanks to all for keeping the thread civil. Hopefully we can say the same next Sunday. ;-)

He was given “dive of the week” on 606 last night, so it is getting an airing on the media how much of a cheating ***t he is!

Its about time to be honest as they have been diving season in, season out without anyone making a fuss about the blatant cheating

Glad its getting airtime. Pep putting it in the public domain will now also make the media and radio discuss it prior to the game

Happy days

Presumably means till the half point of the season, when we (should) have played everyone once...

Genuinely think City’s best option is to come and attack us at Anfield. I know it hasn’t worked in the past, and we love a counter attack but last seasons game was so cagey, and yes City had the better chances and missed a penalty but I really think you should come and go for it against us. Salzburg had us at sixes and sevens penning us in. The worst thing they did was equalise to make it 3-3. Almost like they didn’t know what to do next. MOTD focuses on how City’s defence wobbles when under pressure but ours is the same, when teams really push us back, which is rare. Trent, I love him, but is a liability at times defensively, and Lovren is a present from us to anyone who plays against him.

I’d take the 0-0 now 100%. But at the same time would like to see a good game of football, rather than the usual Anfield set up of 10 men behind the ball waiting for a Corner most teams play. Fact Arsenal and Tottenham now turn up and set up like Burnley is just depressing. Hoping for a good game.

After this match the 6 teams both teams haven’t played is very different. City still with the Rags, Chelsea, Leicester and Arsenal. Think even the most blinkered out there would admit that run looks favourable for us. West Ham away obviously moved now. I didn’t actually realise after you lot we’ve already played the so called “Big 6”.

City 6 Opponents Still to play:

Chelsea (H)

Newcastle (A)

Burnley (A)

Man United (H)

Arsenal (A)

Leicester (H)

Pool 6 Opponents Still to play:

Palace (A)

Brighton (H)

Everton (H)

Bournemouth (A)

Watford (H)

West Ham (A)

Anyway just a post for those who might like to talk football.

I’ll let Airvent to pick up anything else!

Funny that you mention spurs etc turning up to play 10 behind the ball. We have had that struggle for many years now but we still challenge on all fronts.

It would be very interesting to see how liverpool would cope with this scenario week in week out, but you will only find that out if you win the league title

We will drop more than 6 but the Dippers will drop a lot more.

I find it totally hilarious that some scousers seem to think that when Pep goes we are going to crumble !!!! What planet are they on

Can i just point out to those that lurk on here and go running back to the cult thread....when klopp leaves yourselves, you will be back down with united in mid table
