Liverpool thread 2020/21

Liverpool were at full strength when Aston Villa put SEVEN past them.

Injuries are a very convenient excuse.

As someone else pointed out, Liverpool bet the house and short term reaped the rewards.

Not spending all that cash on 2 players would have been the prudent long term play, investing it in 4 players instead.

Klopp plays a style that guaranteed a physical price was paid eventually. He didn’t prepare for that and absolute miracle(or asthma medication) Liverpool have had next to zero injuries for 2 years. This is what happens when you neglect the obvious.
Definitely parallels with how this has gone for them with how it happens in the NFL. Something of course their owner knows a fair bit about. You go all out for that one superbowl (that one premier league) and in the US its basically accepted that there will be a drop off for a good few years. You get freak runs e.g. Brady and the patriots but otherwise it doesn't happen. Off the back of that one title they have secured huge sponsorship deals, back channelled funds to increase the stadium size and other little things, for one purpose, money in the pockets of the yanks.

They have had their time at the top and they have refused to pay their way to stay there.

They are praying for Van Dijk to return, he might never be the same player again, won't be the first time we have seen that. He might be 30 by the time he plays again yet some people seem to think he will bounce back.

They had their first choice keeper, LB, RB and front 3 for basically the whole season, you don't get sympathy for losing two cb's.

They will scream to the heavens of how many trophies Thiago has yet if they lose its because they are missing Jordan fucking Henderson in midfield. If he is that fucking good start that other young CB they have and the new lad and Henderson can run the show no?

I have searched for pics of this but I swear it is true. They used to do runners up parades in those days. Perhaps someone on here will remember the Rags' cardboard cup homecoming. Then again it has probably been airbrushed out of history like their defeat in the Watney Cup Final!

You are right they did have a parade..

I had a car once.
Fastest thing on the estate. I used to thrash the hell out of it day in day out.
It was near perfect. Never gave me a days bother.
I didn't need to service it or top up the oil. Never once lifted the bonnet.

Bastard blew up one day!
Who could have predicted that???

stop making excuses, find a solution and deal with it, but i shouldn't expect anything else from liverpool, it is never your fault, you've had your one good season, back you go to fighting for top 6, that's all you are now, a plucky underdog .
You do know John John is Klipperty Klopp in disguise. Hes only on here to try and get ideas on how to get his shite team out of the mire.

Show me any other side that has its 3 centre backs out for the season and I might agree with you. I accept that's football but to deny what I said is just kidding yourself
Too true fella! The first team to suffer long term injuries in the same position in the history of football. Never happened before bar every other club at one point or another.

Proof if ever it was needed that there is no sincerely held opinions on Sky/BT etc but paid for editorial narratives.

I will take that further. I think Rio was not scripted by BT. I believe there is an old boys network looking back. Old adversaries becoming allies in the face of an upstart. I am seeing this in all the media. Oh, the good old days, misty eyed (shit eyed more like) pining for former glory and believing the world was so much better then (cue conspiring to get us kicked out and Super League proposals - RAWK is awash today with calls to break away).
The hegemony and the underlying narrative is set. I think BT and Sky will be shutting themselves about a breakaway. I just hope our owners buy the TV rights for the Super League

Couldn't believe Brenda left JFE on to give the greatest front three in the world a chance and they still fxxcked it up.

@Hart of the Matter

Yep you can add all that into the mix of the hysteria that has enveloped everyone whose sole aim is to see us stopped at whatever cost and regardless of any wrongdoing.

oh for the good old days when the money wouldn't buy success so they where not at all worried...
