I lived and worked in Peterborough in the late '80's early '90's. More plastic dippers with the odd rag thrown in here and there. Always got a nod from the proper supporters, mainly Leeds, Millwall & West Ham when I mentioned where I was from and who I supported. The followers of the scouse vermin were just as bad then and that was before wall to wall coverage began. I still keep in contact with a good mate I made back then and he tells me that since 1992 (I came home in 94) the swing towards the rags has been immense. Peterborough regularly have supporters inside the ground (ah the good old days!) wearing the shits of these two and it always causes trouble with the Posh fans. My mate isn't averse to twatting someone and has done when provoked. Back in the day he came with me to watch a fair few City games, Leicester, Norwich, Ipswich, Forrest and so on and he loved how mental we were. I would go and watch Posh and believe me the hooligan element in the lower divisions was huge at every club. He's done really well for himself, so much so that he was in India when 93:20 happened and was asked to calm down by the hotel management when Sergio scored! He's visited Argentina and, he really did love Zaba, mentioned him and got into quite a few football conversations because of it. City are very well thought of out there he tells me. He's travelled a whole lot more than me and he's insistent that the dippers are not the force they reckon they are. He's got no agenda, he's a Posh fan and classes City as his bit on the side. The rags have the admirers abroad due solely to global exposure thanks to Sly he's seen these 'supporters' slowly drifting away towards City. He also doesn't like the current Peterborough manager, calls him baby bacon and nobody knows why he calls him that! (don't know where he learned that from ;) )
