The more I think about it the more absurd the argument around the state of the stadium gets. Was it possessed by some evil force that turned Liverpool fans from simple, cheeky looters into weapon deploying pugilists as soon as they entered the stadium? Or were the concrete missiles propelled towards the Juventus fans by a poltergeist that lived in the stadium? Or were the Italian fans collectively taken by a malign spirit that lived in the stands that made them believe they were being attacked by an unseen presence they had to move away from?

Bad stadium. Clear intent to cause the tragedy. They should have tried and executed the Heysel Stadium, just like they did that monkey in Hartlepool.

So when you think about it, Liverpool/Chelsea fans are the real victims here.
You’ve gone full scouse.

NEVER go full scouse.

Now youve explained it like that …

John Smith (then chairman) and Peter Robinson (then club secretary) - albeit less directly - along with many attendees on the day tried to blame Chelsea fans for causing the tragedy, apparently because there were some non-scouse accents in the Liverpool end. Who knew?

Some have tried to blame it on (that well known and widespread cohort) Belgian skinheads.

It‘s quite possibly the genesis and holy grail of ‘it wasn’t our fault‘ rolled into one. It’s actually like something out of a Mitchell and Webb sketch it’s that preposterous.
Grobelaar also in his autobiography, didn’t name Chelsea but said “hooligans from other clubs” or something similar

Naw, that's the bus on its way to the SKY sports studio to collect all the ex dipper players, ex dipper player's daughter, the dipper hangers on and the rest of the sycophantic dipper cheerleaders..!

There's another 2 identical busses just out of shot as a couple of these wouldn't be big enough to collect all of the *****..!

What’s with the joke about Chelsea fans causing the issues? Where did that originate from?
Sorry, if I’m slow on the uptake!

Juventus are just as appalled at Liverpool's then chairman John Smith for attempting to shift blame on to Chelsea hooligans who had travelled to Belgium. Smith told reporters he believed the trouble to be the fault of "Chelsea fans" due to the amount of southern accents heard in the strands.
