Correct. And a good negotiator takes account of knock on effects in a specialised market. How will my stance look to the players? Will players be reluctant to come here as a result of my negotiating rep? etc etc.
Especially when a lot of players could see spurs as a stepping stone club before making the step up to an elite club but see that next step blocked

I’ve never subscribed to this Daniel Levy is a great negotiator stuff, and I’d come to that conclusion long before the Kane deal never materialised.

A good negotiator yields when they need to. A good negotiator knows when to take the money and run. A good negotiator accepts there has to be something in it for the other guy.

Any **** can dig their heels in, and doubtless on occasions it works, but if you’ve only got one gear, then you are bound to come unstuck eventually.

Expert negotiators use Trump as an example of a hard arse negotiators who actually lose more than they win. They start off tough & win a few deals then they get froze out. Levy is the same & I’m certain we knew that before we got involved in Kane negotiations which I’m certain was all for show.

Very true. A good negotiator will always be aware of the potential impact of a particular deal on future negotiations.

Getting the player in now before Salah is sold in the summer with 1 year left on his deal and clubs know they have ££. Hope nobody buys him for stupid money though and he runs down his contract. Same with Mane
after the way they clearly encouraged Milner to run down his contract with us they certainly deserve it... a player who they would have had to pay £25ish mill for with a decent length on his contract, they got for an £8 mill signing on fee paid straight to the player's current account... and a player who would have received a signing on fee of probably no more than 750K ends up over £7 mill personally better off... all he had to do was be hard faced enough to run down his contract, whilst lying through his teeth about 'playing time'... and a preferred playing position he didn't have the attributes to fill... and the brain dead victims spout off stating that there's only one greedy bastard... and its Sterling...YCNMIU!!!

Not worth getting upset about CM1969 , the **** has gone and it has been shown that his " preferred position" is actually just about anywhere but middle of the park , so nobody was fooled about his real concerns .

Jimmy is a fully paid up cult member now, so fuck him and the shithouse of a club he is attached to.

It’s time to acknowledge the dippers as a trophy collecting machine.
Here’s another massive achievement to go with the Net Spend trophy and the January Transfer window Cup.
Greenest club - green with envy :-)

Green with envy when they talk about the club that nobody cares about

There a shoo-in for the MOTD Favourite PFA player of the year as well.
As ever, Liverpool player gets in the main graphic, despite being one of the least favourite (ie only won it once).
Cantona pic used instead of Ronaldo also odd (1 vs 2). Shearer (2) not showing is perhaps understandable as he’s a judge.
Henry (2) would also be a far better choice than Salah.

…. strangely the current and 2 time consecutive PFA player of the year (ie the most prominent of the lot) isn’t on the main pic.

Still, it’s another trophy in the swag bag for the mental monsters.
