It’s truly astonishing that they think they’ve got the right to pontificate about their European record. As if six European Cups/Champions League wins, the majority of which predate 1985, somehow mitigates the contrition and humility they should feel and display for their unlawful and fatal acts.Ive seen your history.
It’s ugly, just ask the families of the 39 who never came back from a game because of your fans.
If they took responsibility for what happened at Heysel, and didn’t try to shift the blame elsewhere, or simply ignore it, then it certainly wouldn’t grate so much. They shouldn’t be expected to wear sackcloth and ashes ad infinitum, but maybe they should own what they caused a little more, and reflect upon it, before boasting about their European trophy haul.
One should not be allowed to extinguish the memory of the other.
The truth is, by any objective analysis, in terms of what really matters, and despite our disappointing record in the CL, their European record cannot be said to be superior to ours.
To suggest otherwise offends the memory of 39 people who never returned from a game.
