My neighbour is a Pompey season ticket holder and also paid in to the Supporters Trust to save them from administration about 10 years ago. He was well up on the finance side and it was clear from the start that the fan ownership model wasn‘t sustainable in any meanful sense, and this was for a club with solid support and lower league wages. In all I think they raised a couple of mil to buy a share in the club, with a few rich Pompey fans effectively put taking the board roles.
They voted overwhelmingly to sell in 2017 to Michael Eisner, the Disney guy.
So, given that experience I don’t think the dips have the first idea how much it costs to run a modern, successful premier league club and nonsense like the post above just makes them look ridiculous.
