I can't wait for this republican/monarchy discussion to fuck off and we can go back to hating the scouse cunts.
Emptihad, Sportswashing......This means more....
C'mon....get back on track folks!

But on the topic currently at hand. I agree with @Prestwich_Blue , this really does seem to be a recent thing. I can recall going to Cup Finals/Games in the 80s/90s and there not being any issue with the Anthem. As far as i can work out the issues that were present now are the same issues as then, so in my view alot of it does seem contrived and as others have said a herd/peer pressure thing.
Quite simple, we are not all going to agree but we can at least respect others opinions....except for their choice in football teams of course

Scouse Git....

I agree everyone has the right to free thought, and for me the right to question it and think that the current model is shit and backward

Would we publicly question/heckle God at a Wedding or funeral?

We don't have the right to free speech, free thought is certainly done in private.

We do have the right to be respectful of differences and keep our mouths shut at appropriate times.

Should there be a public debate about a possible correlation between a City that has produced tragedies such as Hillsborough, Heysel, Bulger Killers, Olivia Pratt, Anthony Barton and last year's scenes in Paris?

We don't because it would be too disrespectful and better to keep our mouths shut?

Crowning someone king on the basis of hereditary privilege definitely isn't.
That's why it's wrong and that's why people shouldn't respect it.
I was responding to your example given regarding Brexit which by the way is a matter of opinion...you are also entitled to your opinion regarding the Royal family however I don't feel its appropriate to boo at a football match and that's my opinion, my wife has the same opinion as you and she simply sat in her seat next to me yesterday and respectfully stayed silent whilst I stood and sang.

Freedom of holding and anti-royal banner up on the KOP, and the stewards and the club allowing it.

How did those loveable Kopites sneak that banner into the ground?

Whilst in London, anti-royal protesters were arrested for doing something similar.

Klopp would say that wouldn’t, being the leader of the cult.

Oh look, an Irish flag.

Please fuck off and make your club and City part of Ireland.

There is not much space for the centre ground these days. The country has been split apart by tribal politics. This doesn't usually end well.
We appear to have inherited that from across the pond. Politics isn't in a good place and hasn't been for quite some time. Also, it's both sides. Neither are innocent. As bad as the Mail is for one side, the Grauniad is for the other.

That aside, I find Scousers rather unbearable and the National Anthem has nothing to do with it.

What’s interesting and healthy is that there is a wide range of opinions on this thread from agreeing with the booing through to unquestionable support of the monarchy, with most of us somewhere in the middle.

A quick look at the equivalent thread on RAWK tells us all we need to know about their deluded fan base. Only one opinion is expressed with literally no dissent. It’s like North Korea on there. Slavish support of the general view is the only thing that seems to be acceptable on there. That’s true of their views on our club as well as this issue and it’s probably true about most other things although there’s no way I’d ever spend more than the odd 5 minutes on there to find out for sure.

Didn't they also jib in at a CL game at Arsenal?

Unfortunately that's exactly what some on here want. Voting for a leader rather than electing a party seems lunacy to me.
Reading the Runes. People who think he's a **** seem to be in the minority and the party will be judged after forming the next government.

Back on Topic.

I can't wait to see their Thursday night cup adventures.

Not sure I am so pessimistic, but even if I was, I don't live there any more so you are on your own :)

Actually, that isn't true. It's not just in the UK, of course. i live in Thailand where there are the same stress lines. An old, loved monarch recently dead, new so-so monarch, political divisions. Old generation, new generation and educated, no-so-educated split that you can see on here as well.

Tricky times ahead everywhere.

This this this. I loathe the dippers for many many reasons but booing that pathetic snivelling dirge isn't one of them. I too don't boo it out of respect for those who like that sort of thing though I think there is an element of self-preservation involved as well as there is a proportion of staunch royalists with neanderthal tendencies
I'm the same would sing the national anthem if you paid me.
But I also wouldn't boo it

Are you sure that isn't just a little twatist?
I'm all for Diversity, Equality and Inclusion. So I think as many people as possible, regardless of the colour of their skin, their ethnic origin, their religion, gender, sexuality and any other defining characteristic, should hate them equally.

Between 1994 and 2013, the people of Liverpool, Merseyside and the wider north-west of England benefited to the tune of £1.3bn from successive funding programmes, with a further £450m agreed up to 2020.

That was matched either in full or in part during that time period from different British Governments.

Whilst over at Liverpool City Council, which has been under special measures and is being run by other councillor leaders from other cities appointed by the Government.

This page collates all the publications relating to the inspection carried out by Max Caller CBE into Liverpool City Council conducted under section 10 of the Local Government Act 1999, and subsequent intervention.

It is a matter of public record that Merseyside Police have for many months been conducting an investigation which has resulted in a number of arrests made on suspicion of fraud, bribery, corruption and misconduct in public office, both in December 2019 and in September 2020. Further arrests were made on 4 December 2020 in connection with offences of bribery and witness intimidation. This investigation involves a significant connection to Liverpool City Council.

So don’t believe the bullshit and lies that the British Government, Labour and Conservative, have never done anything for Liverpool.

Regardless of how much I hate their club it won't make me automatically disagree with absolutely everything they or their fans do. Doing so would demonstrate extreme partisan behaviour and in some ways back up the thought process of messrs (wankrs) Harris and Delaney, no?

Look, I can't stand Liverpool FC and when it comes to anything football, I can't stand their fans either. When speaking purely outside of football however, it'd be either stubborn or stupid of me to suggest that I don't share *some* values. Please, don't let football hold you back from standing up to your own roots or values.
My comment was directed more towards the posters that were complaining that were calling them nasty names.
Besides, I’m not suggesting there is anything wrong with sucking cock.
