Liverpool Thread | 2024/25

Is their year. Twats. Oh well, they won't beat four in a row, trebles, records.

I'm not so sure. They could actually win the lot this year. They are now very strong in all departments and their squad depth is much better than ours. If Allison was injured they used to struggle but Kelleher is equally as good. I actually think they'd be okay without van Dijk too. It's early days yet but I think they've got the league sewn up already and will take some stopping in the champions league. Full involvement in the domestic cups might stretch them but they're looking good.

I am merely predicting the same result that many city supporters on this forum are also predicting.

I can lie and say I think it will be a close contest if that will suit your agenda better?

Not arsed either way, as anything either of us say about the result will be pure conjecture.

but actually most of the post has clearly gone over your head

If you beat them this week the dynamic changes totally.

Liverpool have gone to Old Trafford and the Emirates as tough away games

We (Arsenal) have gone to Chelsea, Villa, Tottenham, Newcastle, Man City,

City have gone to Chelsea, Newcastle, Brighton. This week you will chalk Anfield off the list.

As far as tough games away v the 'big 6' + Newcastle and Brighton. Arsenal have played 5 to Liverpool's 2, and after this week City will have played 4.

So if you win, Liverpool's lead at the top would be a mirage. Like in the 400m sprint. The guy who is winning after 50m is winning because he starts ahead, however toward the backend of the race, the sprinters behind have a shorter pathway to the finish line.

Wouldn't surprise me if you win this weekend. Football can work like that.

We don’t think of where but when.

There’s a reason our 15 game winning streaks come in the he 2nd half.

Not arguing with that. Rodri alone is completely season changing in my opinion. We went through the same thing with Van Dijk although I would argue that the position Rodri plays is even more damaging and harder to replace.

Rodri alone isn’t season changing. We were top of the league & he hasn’t been playing.

Add, Walker, Stones, Dias, Ake, Kovacic, KDB, Grealish, Doku, Bobb, Savio all injured at the same time as Rodri & it’s an issue.

Top of the league early season doesn't mean much. All the games we lost last season had Rodri missing. It's a season defining injury.

We also had KDB & others missing. I’m not underplaying the importance of Rodri missing but we found a way of winning but his absence last season wasn't in isolation.

I think you aren’t giving Rodri the credit he deserves. Win the battle in midfield and 90% of the time you will go on to win or at the very least not lose the match.

His win ratio is incredible and even last season you looked most vulnerable when he was out and even lost away at the Emirates which wouldn’t have happened if he was playing

I love Rodri, he was deserving of the ballon dor but if you think him missing is bigger than impact on us in a game we had no Walker, Stones, Ake, Dias, KDB, Kovacic, Grealish & Bobb then you’re delusional.

The impact of having 10 first teamers out when you play twice a week is you overload the players who haven’t been injured so they are less effective.

You can bring those players back in and you might improve yes but the facts are that without Rodri you are far easier to be got at and other teams will fancy themselves to win the midfield battle.
