Arne fell into the trap that a lot of managers have over the last few years. "It is only a struggling team, we will win easily even with our reserves". Many times they come away with egg on their face.

Pep, on the other hand always respects the opposition regardless of their league or situation. He picks a balanced side with only two or three "kids". There are always senior players on the bench in case they need to rescue a dodgy situation. And he also recognises the fans of the lesser clubs - they pay money to see "stars" not kids.
Yesterday's defeat for the dippers will only matter if they get beat again during the week. The FA Cup is not even a minor priority for most teams now. The eyes are on the big prize. I do have a hunch however that they might have played their best football already this season and might start to struggle in the weeks ahead. Wishful thinking?

Poetic.

Arne Slot's seamless succession to Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager has shown he is not only an outstanding coach but a fast learner - but he was given a harsh lesson in one of the game's oldest rules on a wild afternoon in Devon.

Never play fast and loose with the grand old FA Cup.

The sight of Plymouth Argyle, bottom of the Championship, embarrassing Premier League leaders and the previously all-conquering Liverpool with this fourth-round victory was a compelling response to those who would to attempt to downgrade the magic and history of the competition.

And for Slot, it proved to be the first wrong move in a stellar start at Anfield, proof that you try to play tricks with the FA Cup at your peril.

It should still have been the banner headline on the BBC's website, rather than Ange's struggles at Spurs.

So I drop in here when we win so only right I drop in when we lose!
Got what we deserved today for fielding that weakened team. Whether it was disrespectful to PA or not, I'm not sure they care as it just gave them more chance to continue. Poor team performance for us but PA were excellent and fully deserved the result.
A case of Slot thinking he could ease through, perhaps believing all the media hype this season, but focussing more on the derby on Wednesday.
Fail to win that and there could be a few doubts starting to creep in.
Welcome to England Arne... It's why it is what it is.... the SWEET FA Cup - not the place for arrogance.

Everton , Wolves, Villa, us & Toon in the next 5 games....

I know it was a cocky set of selections yesterday but, a wobble now......

Imagine, just imagine if we go on one of our 14 game winning runs. There'd not be enough candles in the world.
Was just looking at their next 5 league games and if they are going to have a wobble i think its going to be now. Everton, City and Villa away and Newcastle and Wolves at home. They could easily only take 6/7 points from those 5 games and that blows the title race wide open. Saying that, they'll probably win all 5 now i've said that.

Can anyone answer me this; what is the point of Josh Widdicombe? He's in that clique of "WTF" celebrities along with that Rob and Romesh pair.
I have often wondered who their agent is. (S)he should take 95% of their earning because by God they are good at their job
