Let's try to keep to the subject of the thread, please. Thank you.
I don’t think he bought 23 players in his first summer did he? The signings important for the 2013/14 title win were Negredo, Fernandinho and MDM. Most of the other players were a big part of the 2012 team.
Unfortunately we weren’t great after his first season and we got worse the longer he was at the club.
They always look a goal threat though. When we play badly, we barely look like scoring.Their performance against Brentford was worse than anything from us this season, also their first half against Palace where they should've been easily 5 down.
Jesus. Touchy or what Jimbo? As has already been pointed out, that's not strictly true. But let's go along with your narrative for now. What has what Pellegrini did 11 years ago got to do with what Slot has achieved in the last 12 months? Also, if I'm not mistaken, this is the Liverpool thread. Without checking, I'd hazard a guess that there'll be threads about Pellegrini's time at City elsewhere on the forum.
The fact he won the title after buying that amount of players means he didn't win the title with Mancini's side but made good signings like Lampard and Fernandinho.
Slot barely signed another player and DID most definitely win the league with Klipperty's side.
He didn’t win the title after buying 23 players though.
We won the league in his first season and the team was mostly made up of players who were there under Mancini - with the 3 listed in my previous post being the main exceptions.
Therein lies the difference, Pellegrini bought 17 players in his first season at City
Did he?
You’re gonna have to give me a list.
You think that 17 of the 23 players that he bought across 3 years were in the 13/14 season?

Yes he did acquire 17 players in 2013, I thought everyone knew that ;-)
To be fair may were end of loans but there were a core of 5 solid first team members who played for us for years.

I'd class these players as having the ability to change a sides makeup.
Yes, these were the main signings.
Fernandinho was the biggest success with the others dropping off in quality, badly in some cases, after that initial first season. Apart from Fern, non of them would win another title with us.
Tbh, the argument isn’t actually about just signings. It’s also about coaching and it was clear Pellegrini benefited from the defensive steel of the Mancini team with this eroding the longer Mancini was gone.
The same happened when Martinez went to Everton following on from Moyes and now we’re seeing similar at Liverpool with Slot.
Fucking hell - tell him to steer clear of the fans then.....Austin on Sky Sports News;
"There maybe some arrogance in the current Liverpool team..."
No shit!
It’s called a comparison. As has already been pointed out, that's not strictly true. But let's go along with your narrative for now. Retaining a title is not for everyone
Unless they recover quickly they might not qualify for the next stage. They have Real Madrid next at Anfield. Can you imagine Vinicius and Mbappe running at their defence? They will not win the league, but they'll figure it out and be a legit Champions League threat by February.
Hopefully they get to the play off round. An extra 2 tough matches at a pivotal part of the PL season - lovely.Unless they recover quickly they might not qualify for the next stage. They have Real Madrid next at Anfield. Can you imagine Vinicius and Mbappe running at their defence?
My minds gone blankDid he?
You’re gonna have to give me a list.
You think that 17 of the 23 players that he bought across 3 years were in the 13/14 season?
The team was mainly:
Hart
Zabba
Kompany
MDM
Kolarov
Fernandinho
Yaya
Silva
Navas
Aguero
Dzeko/Negredo
Martin Demichelis. Took me a bit.My minds gone blank
Who is MDM ? I cant think who that's referring too.
