The fact he won the title after buying that amount of players means he didn't win the title with Mancini's side but made good signings like Lampard and Fernandinho.
Slot barely signed another player and DID most definitely win the league with Klipperty's side.
They always look a goal threat though. When we play badly, we barely look like scoring.
Liverpool had their own goal threat and more shots than Palace in that game (16 v 20), had a similar xG (3.5 v 3.1), 72% possession… as poor as they were defensively, they didn’t look like they were struggling to create chances like we do when we don’t play well.
Similarly against Brentford:
xG 2.97 v 2.21
Our xG at Villa yesterday was 0.07. We didn’t really create a single chance in their box to score a goal and didn’t really look like scoring apart from the one chance when Haaland went through 1on1 but didn’t get his body shape right and allowed Konsa to catch him up which rushed his shot.
When we don’t play well, we look a bit abject in creativity.

I'm making the point that, in my opinion, you can potentially compare MP's 2014 title win with most of Mancini's team, with Slot's win last season after taking over from Klopp.
I've made the point before that I believe teams have 'muscle memory' and that an effectively coached team will remember how to play even when that coach leaves. A new coach will come in and initially have little impact on their own until their approach is embedded, which might take a season or two. There's no doubt that both Klopp and Mancini were superb coaches and drilled their teams to the n-th degree. You can't just coach that out of players or teams overnight.
Of course we don't know for sure. It could just be a post-title dropping off, like they experienced in 2020/21. Or it could be that Slot is not as good as Klopp, in the same way that Pellegrini wasn't as effective as Mancini.

He didn’t win the title after buying 23 players though.
We won the league in his first season and the team was mostly made up of players who were there under Mancini - with the 3 listed in my previous post being the main exceptions.

I don't think Slot bought one, which is the point, he literally didn't win the title with Mancinis side when Slot actually did win the title with Klopps side because he didn't have a single player in his side that wasn't his . OK you van count Chiesa but not exactly epic.
Therein lies the difference, Pellegrini bought 17 players in his first season at City Slot didn't buy one that is a genuine first teamer.

Yes he did acquire 17 players in 2013, I thought everyone knew that ;-)
To be fair may were end of loans but there were a core of 5 solid first team members who played for us for years.

Yes, these were the main signings.
Fernandinho was the biggest success with the others dropping off in quality, badly in some cases, after that initial first season. Apart from Fern, non of them would win another title with us.
Tbh, the argument isn’t actually about just signings. It’s also about coaching and it was clear Pellegrini benefited from the defensive steel of the Mancini team with this eroding the longer Mancini was gone.
The same happened when Martinez went to Everton following on from Moyes and now we’re seeing similar at Liverpool with Slot.

I agree with you about the backbone of the side Mancini left but the difference is that Slot just used Klopps players and Klopps methods.
At least Pellers bought some decent players to add to the mix.

Unless they recover quickly they might not qualify for the next stage. They have Real Madrid next at Anfield. Can you imagine Vinicius and Mbappe running at their defence?
Hopefully they get to the play off round. An extra 2 tough matches at a pivotal part of the PL season - lovely.
