I honestly don't think Klopp (and his team) are stupid enough to jump into the poisoned chalice...he knows what is on offer at Anfield and there will be bigger clubs looking for a new manager before the season has ended (or shortly afterwards).

Klopp joining Liverpool would not impact City. Guardiola staying at Bayern would impact City. Guardiola staying at Bayern would impact Klopp. You're getting cause and affect mistaken. Klopp joining Liverpool could indicate that Guardiola was staying at Bayern, which in turn would impact City, however Klopp's decision wouldn't have caused Guardiola's decision, it would have been driven by it.

Ah. Very good point well made, mate. I concede on this one!

Given FSG's approach, and what the club/fans deem to be acceptable performance, I can't see a scenario where ANYONE who becomes Liverpool manager wouldn't fail.
The problem he would have here, compared to Germany, is that there is an established top four here, whereas it's Bayern and three others in the Bundesliga. Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke have usually been there in the last 5 years and so were Dortmund when he was there. But there's always a chance that another club, or even two, could break into that group. Bayern's revenues dwarf every other Bundesliga club (they're about double that of Dortmund, who have the second highest).

It's not so easy here however, where four teams dominate financially and you're really relying on one of them to slip up.

It's the most competitive league in the world. Baconface was good at getting average players to overperform. Whoever takes over at Liverpool will have to do the same until the end of the season. If they finish in the top 6, they could attract players who are already in a europa league place.

I think the key in FSG's decision is probably how poorly United and Chelsea have started again. The reality is that the top 4 is still wide open and there's nothing in Chelsea or United's play to suggest that they are going to cruise one of those spots. I think Klopp can come in and take the current LFC squad into the reckoning for a top 4 place.

If they do get one. Then I think he will do a MUCH better job of identifying and attracting the players they require to stay there next summer. Of course City/Arsenal/Chelsea/United will have far more money than them but Klopp isn't all about that and I think he will show at Liverpool, if he goes there, that he can work miracles wherever he goes.

Can you tell I'm a Klopp fanboy ? :)
