Liverpool obviously have more supporters than we do. Why should that matter to anyone? I didn't think Blackburn in their day were less powerful because their following was smaller. I remember thinking they are a "big" club i.e. they can attract bigger names than us ($$$). Their crowd was irrelevant. Only the petty compare attendances IMO. We have some here who are no better than the scouts on that score though.
