Liverpool v City 1st leg CL Qtr Final post match

Anyone got a clip of the penalty sterling was asking for in the second half - BT didn't appear to show a reply although at the time I was convinced the left back handled the ball
BT reviewed it in the studio and all three of them said, yes it's a definite penalty. Gerard said it was a handball in the box as well.

My first comment on last night, and I pretty much agree with everything you've said, panic set in when they scored, and lasted for 35 minutes until Pep could get them in and have some words, he must have despaired about that first half (minus the first 10 minutes), and the way we played in the second half showed that we can control them.

Its still not certain, but I'm not sure we can stop them scoring, so we may need 5 in the second leg, a tough task, with them being where they are, but hopefully he'll use Monaco, to build them up for what can still be done.

It was baffling but almost predictable. I read a lot of the pre match threads, most of them confident and I wanted to believe, I really did. I thought lessons would have been learnt from the league game, I also thought our players couldn't implode again like they did last time surely? We also had Kompany and Silva in the side and Jesus with his high work rate to press them. This time would be different. It wasn't it was déjà vu.

Vastly experienced players lost all composure, decision making, tactical awareness and courage. We were an utter embarrassing shambles and it could have been six never mind three by half time.

I don't agree anything that was said or done at half time made a difference. Them losing Salah and being happy with what they had did that. They remembered the league game and sat back hoping they may perhaps snatch another on the break. 3-0 was probably beyond their wildest dreams and they rightly settled for that, hence why it looked like we had more control.

We might be at home next week and dominate more but having to score at least three is going to leave us open at the back and I can see them scoring at least once. We live in hope of course that everything clicks, we get the rub of the green and decisions for once and smash the giddy fuckers out of sight but it is a tough task.

Just had a scroll through RAWK and I shit you not the only thing they were worried about was how the police horses hooves were with all the broken glass!! What is wrong with these people?

We weren't playing our normal game from the start. Players who have been drilled in what is expected, now told to change (hugely succesful) tactics to another type.
Disappointing really. I would rather we had gone down playing our own game, the one we are good at.
I didn't recognise this side tonight.
They doubled up on Leroy because because we didn’t have Raheem on the other flank to occupy their defence. Yes we were feeble by normal standards, but feeble conceding an offside goal, having a good goal disallowed and not getting the pen. Foy said it was a pen.

Balls out nothing to lose performance on Tuesday. We’ve not yet gone full tilt for 90 minutes - not had to. Liverpool do the full on thing about once a month. They’ll be in two minds on Tuesday.

The perfection against Everton worried me. I knew we wouldn't replicate it the following game - against anyone. Quite simply when Raheem plays, the opponents cannot double up on Leroy. The classic Pep tactic is to keep the ball on one side of the pitch, pass it round in circles until the opposition comes looking for the ball and loses their shape - then 60 yard diagonal crossfield pass to Raheem/Kyle or Leroy, and rapid run into the box. No team can cope with it.

Need Sergio to get some shooting practice on Saturday. Certain players have a psychological effect on opposing teams. Sergio is one of those players.

2 titles will do I'm not greedy...

Played like we did against Wigan, so in the next game we play the same we're out BOOOOOO
Won't be that upset truth be known...

Hope they get Barca or Real next round and let the overly eager Spanish police deal with the fucking bottle throwing idiots....

Police admitted finding the culprits of last night incident is proving very difficult...

Liverpool play that flat out game once or twice a month - they cannot do it every game. It lasts an hour or so then they hit the wall, so it's important to score in that first hour as they're running on empty for the last thirty. I doubt they'll have the energy to get anywhere near that level on Tuesday. They'll be fighting their natural instinct and constantly in two minds. Make no mistake, we'll make chances next week - will come down to how ruthless we are early on. I don't do result predictions but we'll have fifteen/twenty shots. Need to prey on their weak spot - Karius.
