Liverpool v City 1st leg CL Qtr Final post match

Battered 1st half but 2 offsides against us and it was 2-1. Cheated by officials at Candlefield who'd have thought it.

They were tight decisions but let’s not fall into the trap of fooling ourselves that the officials were the problem. We failed to get a shot on target. That was the problem.

We would have had a shot on target (and a goal) if the officials had got it tight though and Liverpool would have only had 2. I know that's not the way it works but it did have an impact. I thought we started ok and it was only after they scored that we went to pieces.

We didn't deserve anything from the game but poor officiating certainly didn't help.

WELL that was something. Pep has always been his own undoing. He did the same thing twice while he was Bayern, at this same stage. Play the players at their EXACT position. He left muller on the bench, played Alcantara as a false 9 and got walloped. Today? He played Laporte as a full back, no attacking threat from that position. Sane was totally up on his own. We had Danilo, we had Delph, very capable fullbacks with the occasional forward run but he instead played Laporte in that position. Against Everton, we went 3 at the back, swamped the midfield with 5 players, I was impressed and I thought Pep was going to play that template today but NOOOOOOO, instead he did something else. Pep is a genius alright but sometimes keep it simple, DO NOT RE-INVENT THE WHEEL.

This pretty much sums it up. Sad day. As sloppy as we've looked linking passes and defensively all season. Really can't believe that was our team.

I retain hope but not very much.

Piss poor team selection, we were all over the place, the shape was awful first half. Better Second half but without any conviction that we would get a goal or Two. Feel sorry for Sterling, he's been in great form, did well when he came on as well, should have started.

A total, total brain fart by Pep.
I love the guy, but it was.
Yes we can say with VAR it would be 2-1 But Pep has to take the blame for that.
Gundogan on the right? Seriously?

We're too honest a team. TIme and time again we play teams that play these shit niggling foul tactics, but the minute you niggle back, both legs jump off the floor and our player's given a yellow card. Really fucks me off. Hard man Henderson and judas Milner kept doing it, persistent niggling or 'pressure' as the commentators like to put it. Name an honest side that's won the champions league?
