Liverpool v City 1st leg CL Qtr Final post match

He might want to look at himself as well. I thought this tie would be difficult, but I really did not expect City to be done again in exactly the same way we were done in the League. That smacks a bit of arrogance from everyone.

I think Pep should have done the unexpected and parked the bus but his players failed to execute and could easily have done so with a different gameplan.

It's Liverpool for fuck sake. Not peak Real Madrid or Barcelona. Their midfield has Henderson and Chamberlain in it!

Makes you question how pschologically vulnerable we really are.

The pressure to not lose to a side 16 points behind us was simply too much for us.

You can't actually overreact to that. It was an absolute embarrassment to the shirt.

That doesn't mean we can't be happy with the rest of the season.

But that tonight was a bunch of turds, who let us down. Pep will be giving them more shit than we ever could.

But Pep is hardly blameless for that performance!

Stuff the return leg in this joke competition, the main game is this Saturday no ifs or buts!

Joke competition ? This is the pinnacle of European football. Whatever flaws it may have, there is no other way to gauge a team's level in Europe, except by this competition.

Some of the comments on here, f###in grow a set. Bad night at the office, fair play to Liverpool but this isn't over yet. We dominted 2nd half and we'll do the same next week. If we can pressure early and scored then its on. These players have shown that they're capable and if any team can turn it around then its them.
Grow a set yourself and accept we're out. Shit happens. Now on to Saturday.

Let's get the league done and then we can think about next week.

The players did not seem to have the right mentality for me. I wouldn't be surprised if some of our players know that Liverpool have the beating of them.

Ederson seemed to play much deeper than usual and there was an occasion where he didn't even attempt to come for a simple ball. Most of our play seemed to go backwards and there were occasions where Walker and Sane just froze and turned backwards and allowed Liverpool to regroup.

The most evident example of this was in the build up to Liverpool's first goal. I've not seen a passage of play like it since the Chelsea home game last season and it is clear as day that since then Pep has worked hard to stop us being susceptible to the counter-attack.

What we do amazingly as a team is recycle possession whenever we have players out of position in order to prevent teams from breaking at us. What Sane did tonight though was the exact same as Gundogan last season. He forced a pass which wasn't available and sloppily gave away possession leading to a Liverpool counter.

I am convinced we will go through.

If they can score three inside half an hour, this City team can certainly do likewise over the course of ninety minutes.

A couple of things which could be important when the dust settles.

Salah could be missing with an apparent groin issue, which for a speed merchant is a nightmare.

Henderson is suspended, meaning their already depleted midfield will be another man short.

Sergio will be fit also.

We saw shades of possible momentum breakdown in Liverpool when they Salah went off.

Barca were four down last year against PSG, and I do think we have five in us, even if Liverpool get one.

We will also have the added confidence of being league champions.
