Liverpool v City 1st leg CL Qtr Final post match

Heart says City can still win this, head says most likely thing is City score three or even four at home but the scouse get a breakaway goal at some point.

So disappointed to play so timidly. We let them bully us all over the park. Pushing us and knocking us over. Should have known in the first few minutes the ref was giving us nothing so stand up, protect the ball and find your man. Too much passivity. Time on Tuesday to see who has the big balls as I think we will need to score 5. Can we do it? Yes. Will we do it? The beauty of football is in the unknown.

I am convinced we will go through.

If they can score three inside half an hour, this City team can certainly do likewise over the course of ninety minutes.

A couple of things which could be important when the dust settles.

Salah could be missing with an apparent groin issue, which for a speed merchant is a nightmare.

Henderson is suspended, meaning their already depleted midfield will be another man short.

Sergio will be fit also.

We saw shades of possible momentum breakdown in Liverpool when they Salah went off.

Barca were four down last year against PSG, and I do think we have five in us, even if Liverpool get one.

You put good money on us winning the league in 2014 after the 3-2 if I recall correctly Tolmie? Bookmarked. I believe.

You mean like they were oh I get it - not
Look mate, what has happened to our club in last 10 years has been a wonderful thing, what happened in the many decades before has been character building and I like to think makes us better supporters and human beings. The fact the rags don’t and and never have behaved like that demonstates that. If you want to be like that then that is your choice but if lots of fellow blues also do so then that saddens me.

I still think we have a chance Ric in the tie but it's rapidly becoming apparent that Aguero and Silva are not going to win a CL medal with us which is a shame.

Even if we'd have won tonight (or indeed if we still win the tie) there's every chance we'd get knocked out in the next round, given the calibre of teams likely to be in the semis. Of course it's a disappointment, as I said myself, but it's not taken the shine of a record breaking season for me. If it has for you then fair enough. You've always been a "glass half empty" man though, to be fair. Why accentuate the positives of a record breaking season when you can focus on the negatives?

The difference this time though, is that we were actually playing our normal game, saw off any Liverpool problems, took over the game & then defended like absolute shithouses with their first breakaway.

Wolves or Bristol would not have conceded that goal. It was piss easy to stop.

The players involved should have a long look at themselves & make sure they do everything to put it right.

Got to disagree with the part about playing our natural game. Ederson was practically on his goal line throughout the game and the manner in which Sane gave the ball away for the first goal isn't something which has been coached out of the team. Some of the players just froze.
