Tribalism has got us to this place. I really believe the system we have is the main problem. It is almost impossible for people to break out of the two political tribes and both sides are trapped in the past. The world is moving on technologically and we have been left behind fighting the old battles.
I was talking to a friend today (a Brexiteer while I am an unconvinced remainer). I tried to convince him that the entire Brexit debate was irrelevant to the future and that includes the Northern Ireland impasse. If the country can't or won't modernise then we will all be doomed. Brexit has just been a diversion from reality.

Troughout my life regardless of who I voted for in a GE and who has formed the government I have always reserved my judgement and based it on their record in power.

But if im being honest I can't say I can drum up much if any optimism for a Truss led government.

It still amazes me that the Tory MPs thought that someone in Johnsons cabinet was going to be useful let alone electable?

Even the commons is set up with opposite ranks facing each other in a very adversarial system, with the front benches two sword lengths apart to prevent sharp bladed violence.
We love our history in this country but sometimes it seems that we actually live in it.
