Nick Ferrari bit at this one as he thought he had one of her supporters but it quickly went south....... pretty sure you can see in his face the point where "oh bugger" sets in........
The problem is the Tory Members are like united fansI never thought we would have a PM with even less charisma than Theresa fucking May!!
My goodness, she is the David Brent of politics.
She actually said this (have checked a transcript of her speech):Has she really said? Unbelievable if so!
I’ve seen it all now, sit down and leave it to the ladies politely clapping.
They don’t half make complete tits of themselves at times.I’ve seen it all now, sit down and leave it to the ladies politely clapping.
She actually said this (have checked a transcript of her speech):
"I grew up in Paisley and in Leeds in the 80s and 90s.
"I have seen the boarded-up shops. I have seen people left with no hope turning to drugs. I have seen families struggling to put food on the table.’
So Osland’s Tweet should have ended the quotation at that point.
Nevertheless, he was not incorrect in drawing attention to Truss’s skewed logic.
Thatcher got elected on the back of the Saatchi slogan 'Labour Isn't Working'. This is because there was, at that time, one million unemployed in the UK. For Friedman and Hayek, the focus of macreconomic theory should be on controlling inflation. So Thatcher raised interest rates. This should lower demand as it then costs more to borrow money. Unfortunately, those higher interest rates attracted foreign capital, driving up the value of the British pound and making British exports uncompetitive.
The result was a huge recession. Unemployment soared to 3.3 million people, a significant chunk of British manufacturing was destroyed, and many traditional industrial centres were devastated.
Not to mention the highest ever taxes and low growth comments - after 12 years of Tory rule.I really hope the press & critics latch onto this because I think it distills her stupidity and dishonesty in 4 sentences. I am desperate for one TV or radio interviewer to put it to her simply.
Mrs Truss, you 4 when Thatcher got elected and 22 when Labour came into power. The Boarded-up shops, people left with no hope turning to drugs, families struggling to put food on the table - that was all happening under the longest period of conservative power since the 18th century wasn't it?
And those Thatcherite policies are the ones that you want to bring back to Britain?
Bonus points if they also challenge her on the outright lie that she was the first PM to go to a comprehensive school, she's not even the first Tory PM to do that.
I sat on a table with her at the German embassy whilst drinking beer and eating sausages. That’s another story.I can’t believe she’s even an MP, surely the ability to communicate is a given, she’s fucking awful, is she on the spectrum? Maybe why she seems to have no empathy with people

I'm confused. I thought she wanted more grammar schools. Was that intended to show how even idiots from a comprehensive school can be PM?The comprehensive thing is mad - the main reason is that she's a good way younger than any other PM is (as of today, not when elected), and comprehensives were expanded in the late 60s. It stands to reason that very few predecessors went to comprehensives.
I fully expect them to weasel about Theresa May who (I think) went to a grammar school which converted to a comprehensive while she was there.

So she said, while trying to win the support of the Tory members. It did the trick but didn't even make it to the speech yesterday so maybe a quiet U-turn already.I'm sorry, Vic, I don't speak Truss.
Are they really wanting more grammar schools?!
