Loan Watch 2019/20

Appreciate it! I probably won't do that just because there's already quite a few City aggregator accounts but @CFG360 on Twitter is a good one to follow for loan news. I'll keep doing these on here so long as people are reading them. Journalism was my passion but decided to be "practical" and go into finance. This allows me to have a little fun with writing again.

The club itself should hire your services. Would show it is continually interested in such players and their development.
Much appreciated.

I wonder if we’ll consider recalling Muric in January and sending him elsewhere. Patrick Roberts’ lack of minutes is really disappointing too considering he had a full pre-season with Norwich.

Yeah not working out for either at the moment. Matt Smith isn’t getting much time at QPR either. Out of the 4/5 in England it is surprisingly Bolton who is getting lots of exposure at Luton.

The lads abroad seem to be doing well. Itakura seems to start every game for Groningen, Garcia has scored 2 in 2 Mouscron, Meshino is starting for Hearts and Yangel Herrera is a big reason why Granada are flying high. Uriel Antuna seems to score every other game for Galaxy and the Mexico national team as well.

Whether any get a shot with us is debatable but the majority look like they will be making us a tidy profit on our investment if/when we sell them.

Time for another roundup of what City's loanees were able to do over the weekend.

Patrick Roberts came on in the last few minutes of Norwich City's 0-2 away defeat to Burnley. Jack Harrison started and played the first 58 minutes of Leeds' 1-1 draw with Derby County in the Championship. Luke Bolton started for Luton Town in their 0-3 home loss to Hull, with Bolton playing 76 minutes at right back before coming off. Matthew Smith was an unused substitute for QPR's 2-1 win at Millwall while Aro Muic was left on the bench with manager Sabri Lamouchi again preferring Brice Samba in goal for Forest's 1-0 win over Barnsley. Tosin Adarabioyo was not in the matchday squad for Blackburn Rovers' 2-1 win at Reading.

Zack Steffen got another start for Fortuna Dusseldorf in the Bundesliga, and despite losing 2-1 away to Borussia Monchengladbach, Steffen was very impressive recording nine saves in the loss. In La Liga action, Pedro Porro played the full 90 for Real Valladolid as they fell to defeat away at Villarreal. Yangel Herrera started and played the first 83 minutes as Granada pulled off a surprise 2-0 win at home to Barcelona. Through five matchdays, the Andalusian side sit third in the table behind only Athletic Bilbao and Real Madrid. In the Jupiler Pro League, Thomas Agyepong's Waasland-Beveren hosted Aleix Garcia's Royal Excel Mouscron, with Garcia scoring the lone goal for the away side while Agyepong came on for the final twenty-five minutes in the 1-1 draw. Garcia now has two goals in two starts for REM. Philippe Sandler started in defense for Anderlecht and picked up a yellow card as their early season struggles continued with the away side losing yet again, this time at Club Brugge. Ante Palaversa still isn't fit and wasn't in the matchday squad for Oostende.

Ryotara Meshino started and played the full 90 in Hearts' 2-1 away win over Hibernian and Daniel Arzani made his first step back from injury with the Australian playing for Celtic's reserves in a rehab match. Once again awesome mate! Thanks so much

Frimpong was sold unfortunately, wouldn't be surprised if we are keeping close tabs on him with a big sell on clause included in the deal.
He was, but I thought this might be a better place to share this given few will see the Frimpong thread in the EDS and Academy Forum.

Hope he does well.

September comes to a close with another weekend of action for City's Loanees. Let's see how they got on this past weekend.

Patrick Roberts came on as a sub for the final ten minutes of Norwich City's 2-0 away loss to Crystal Palace in the Premier League. In the Championship, Jack Harrison started for Leeds United and played the full 90 as they fell away to Charlton Athletic by a score of 1-0. Matt Smith came on for the final five minutes of QPR's loss at home to West Bromwich Albion, while both Luke Bolton and Tosin Adarabioyo were unused substitutes in Luton Town's 2-1 away win over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park. Aro Muric again missed out on the Nottingham Forest starting eleven in their 3-2 away win over Stoke City, with Brice Samba once again being preferred in goal.

Yangel Herrera started and played the full 90, helping Granada continue their fine start to the season in La Liga with a 1-0 win over Leganes. Pedro Porro came on for the final fifteen minutes of Real Valladolid's 2-0 away win over Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium in Catalonia. In France, Thierry Ambrose came on as a sub after halftime of Metz's 2-2 home draw with Toulouse. Marlos Moreno got a rare start for Portimonense in the Premeira Liga but was subbed off after halftime in their 0-1 home loss to Braga.

Joel Latibeaudiere did not make the matchday squad for Gonzalo Garcia's FC Twente as they suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat at the hands of Feyenoord. In the Dutch capital, Ko Itakura started and played the full 90 for Groningen as they fell to the champions Ajax by a score of 2-0. In the Eerste Divisie, both Ilic brothers started and played the full 90 for NAC Breda as they won away to TOP Oss. Breda sit first in the table after eight matchdays. Claudio Gomes started and went the distance for Jong PSV; however, they suffered a 5-2 defeat away to Excelsior. Aminu Mohammed once again missed out on the matchday squad for Dordrecht.

Paolo Fernandes came on as a sub in the 54th minute for Perugia in Serie B, but it wasn't enough for the visitors as they lost 3-0 away to Empoli. Aleix Garcia continued his fine form for Royal Excel Mouscron, scoring both goals in their 2-2 home draw with Zulte Waregem. Garcia has now scored four goals in his last three league matches. Philippe Sandler started and played the full 90 for Anderlecht's 0-0 home draw with Thomas Agyepong's Waasland-Beveren, but the Ghanaian wasn't in the matchday squad for the visitors. Ante Palaversa was not yet back in the squad for Oostende as he works on returning from injury.

The American started for the visitors before coming off in the 79th minute. In the Scottish Premiership, Ryotaro Meshino got another start for Hearts before coming off in the 78th minute of their 0-0 draw with St. Mirren. Mix Diskerud started for Ulsan Hyundai in their K-League win over Seongnam with the American starting and playing 90 minutes, picking up a yellow card in the process. Despite losing to the Vancouver Whitecaps at home, Uriel Antuna continued his great form for the LA Galaxy of the MLS, starting and scoring for the California side. Antuna recorded 4 goals and 2 assists during league matches in the month of September.

Later tonight, Felix Correira's Jong AZ Alkmaar take on Den Bosch in the Eerste Divisie. Midweek Championship action will see Jack Harrison's Leeds United host West Brom while Tosin Adarabioyo's Blackburn Rovers play host to Aro Muric's Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, and Luke Bolton and Matt Smith will get their chance to shine on Wednesday as Luton Town and QPR take on Millwall and Cardiff City, respectively. Mix Diskerud's Ulsan Hyundai will also be in action on Wednesday as they face Gangwon.

The below video shows the highlights of the Galaxy's home defeat to Vancouver, with Antuna's goal coming in the 58th minute on an impressive first time volley.

In midweek games, Jack Harrison started for Leeds and provided the assist for the lone goal in their 1-0 win over West Brom at Elland Road.
