Local Elections 2023

Strange. And presumably the worry is most of the 2 million aren’t Tories ?

They tend to be lower paid, ethnic background, disabled. lower educational achievement so I suspect the Tories know that as they are the people they are penalising best not to let them vote

edit - they may have ID but its not the "right" ID - for example you can have an Oyster card in London but its only acceptable if its a senior citizens one

You know who has valid photo ID? Immigrants and people from immigrant families who travel around the world to visit friends and family and probably get aggro from the police and local authorities on a weekly basis.

You know who doesn’t have valid photo ID? Old farmers from the south west who haven’t left their own village since 1859.

Guess who the Tory voters are out of those two categories.

This thinly veiled attempt at voter suppression is going to backfire, IMO.

Seen stuff tonight where the Tories have royally fucked it with Voter ID. Recently married women who's license or passport is still in their maiden name but they are registered to vote in the married surname turned away. Also people who go double barrelled - so say Mr Smith marries Ms Jones or even Mr Jones and they go Smith-Jones as a surname - same applies - they really are a shower of shit

If you haven't any photo ID the answer is to apply for a postal vote in future. Mind you, I dare say the crooks will be stopping those too.
Well yeah, but that also requires some sort of forward planning, which is kind of the point behind them making it harder for (some) people to vote.

If you use your passport, does it have to be currently valid or will an expired one do? Because the passport office is another service they've made an absolute shit show of. I imagine there are plenty of people who just let them expire during the pandemic and haven't renewed them yet.

depends though, the accepted ones are ridiculously limited.

My personal liscense issued by the local authority which I have to carry on my person daily isn't an acceptable form of ID neither is a civil service ID or NHS ID.

why should you have to carry your passport about all day??
completely stupid parameters have been set.

And more to the point there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever of voting fraud in the UK so why are we bothering with it in the first place? We know the answer to that but they are so incompetent they'll probably balls voter supression up too.

funny as fuck - Tory MP for Medway areas bemoaning losses and blaming it on deprivation and levelling up. He says that the levelling up money needs to be allocated to the South as well as the North...... daft fucker wasn't in the loop when they decided the reduced capital they had after leaving Brexit was at the gift of cabinet members so Sunak's leafy North Yorkshire affluent seat got cash but his area didn't - even some of their own didn't see the con
