One of my neighbor's is a chimney sweep and I was chatting to him and he said he is really busy because of log burners . Aperently your house insurance is invalid (in the event of it starting a fire) ifyou don't get them serviced once a year

yep get it swept once a year even if you don’t use it. You need a certificate to say it’s been swept

Make sure you get your flues signed off by a competent person.
We had a very unusual case where a log fire was responsible for burning down a £10 million pound mansion.

Don’t keep logs indoors unless you are happy inviting in all sorts of wood boring insects and dry rot.

Probably best when heating a larger open space with a sub 5kw burner. Works for us.
