lol samuel is bricking it.

Rooney would find anonymity at Chelsea? So there have been no negative headlines for John Terry and Ashley Cole while they've been there. There is no facepalm stong enough. Ok, he may not have Ancelotti (though would Mancini?) knocking on his door furious about the headlines but he certainly won't find anonymity and it certainly won't shield him from the personal repercussions

Henry Winter in the ToryGraph yesterday was espousing much the same sentiment. Go anywhere but City.

Martin Samuel has generally been fair to us since the takeover (certainly in comparison to most other journalists) and most of what he says in that article is spot on; not once does he say anything against us.

That's what I thought after reading, I thought I'd missed something.

Agree. Its just his opinion, and judging what's happened whenever we've put up a poster, ther'll be afew following him around out of spite.

Doesn't he still live in Liverpool though? I'm sure he'd be fine.

I don't mind Samuel, but him claiming there is anonymity to be found in London is hilarious. London!

Barf

MS is right he'd be better off in Larnden with all those prozzies to go at while his wife divorces his sad arse.

Ha ha ha....this just keeps getting funnier.

We've done absolutely nothing and they're up in arms about what happens "if."
Ferguson playing to the gallery, almost in tears, blaming the player and saying how he "can't understand it" despite still having a 36 year old Scholes as his most effective midfielder.

Best bit of PR ever, totally destabilisng them, bringing all the things they've tried to bury about their squad, their owners...right to the surface...without us even uttering a word.

Priceless.Get the popcorn in.
Sporting Jeremy Kyle.

Can't see much wrong there, and i'm struggling to see a reason why he, (or any journo), would be bricking it.... Bricking it about what? Us being successful? I'm sure they've all got used to the fact thats inevitable now anyway.
As for the quote about London, well i can see what he means there. As much as I would like Rooney here, I do think Chelsea will go all out to get him, and it will suit the player more too. Think of the pressures he has brought on himself with his goings on behind his wifes back. Now add to that the fact he will have hundreds of thousands of people on his back wherever he goes if he joins us.... Moving to London is a move which would stop all that, (apart from, of course, the southern Rags, but they're just plastic fans anyway). I think thats what the idea is behind him being anonymous in London.

Exactly. Famous people DO get more anonymity in London, simply because there are so many of them there and the vast majority of people around them at any one time don't even know who they are anyway. In Manchester, some slapper off Coronation Street struts down the street and it causes a stir. In London, Gwyneth Paltrow walks past and no one thinks anything of it.

Obviously, if he wants to continue his whoring and boozing ways, London will be a nightmare for him, but if he wants to keep his nose clean and enjoy a quiet family life, he'd be better off down there than running the gauntlet of bitter rag twats in Manchester.

Sigh, Samuel isn't scared of us getting Rooney - he's making a valid point. And, anyway, why would he be scared? He's been one of our only media allies AND he's a West Ham fan. He has enough to worry about.

Correct. Samuels is not picking at us at all.

Spot on. What Samuel has missed or chosen to overlook is that Rooney spends most of his spare time with his in laws in Liverpool. A place where even glory hunting rags are scarce.
It's unlike him to miss out that detail but the piece is more than a little mischievous so he probably chose to leave it out

It's not a problem to take the whole family to Spain. Lots of ex-pats there, a chance of a new life, away from the English pressure, a chance to resolve his problems with Coleen.

Too many positives to weigh up rather than reasons to stay in this country.
