The thing I dislike about London is all the concrete. You think of any other City in the country, Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Birmingham, and within a 30 minute drive from the city centre you can be in beautiful countryside. London is just miles and miles of congestion and concrete. For someone who has lived on the edge of the Pennines all his life, London is just too built up.
Great place to visit though and I've had some great times working there too. I've always got on well with cockneys. As long as you can give them as much banter back as they give you, they are great people to work and drink with.
Couldn't live there though, too expensive and too much of a rat race.

Take away the tourist bits and pieces and Kensington, Chelsea and Fulham and Banned Tosspot is spot on. It is the biggest shithole i have ever visited.

I love London. Kilburn is a shithole, Kensingtons a bit posh. But the people are friendly as are most Cockney's i've met.
Stayed all over the smoke and like anywhere you go there alright.

Agree with the OP, detest the place & the people that inhabit the place. Silly cow that won the apprentice summed them up quite appropriately when she made some derogatory comment about Northerners when the task brought them to Liverpool & Manchester. I forget the exact words she used but I was livid with it at the time as it was insulting to all of us collectively.
It's hard to generalise about an entire City's population, but generally speaking they are all a bunch of tossers.

Okay, as an outsider who's been to both, I'll have a go.
London is full of history. It has some fantastic tourist attractions and is a great place to visit. Once. The second time, I was bored because I had already done the token "touristy" things.
Manchester on the other hand, has City. But it also has a great nightlife and a certain vibe walking down the streets, similar to the way New York and Hong Kong do.

Find a nice pub in the City centre with a beer garden and then just sit back and watch the world go by.Great stuff.Covent Garden and Leicester square in the evening are great too,going to see a show still has appeal for me and i never tire of visiting the wonderful Imperial war museum.
