London is a ***** hole

It depends on where you go and who you meet.

The problem with the place is it is too driven by money and too busy.

At parties with the 'wrong people' the conversation is always about money, how much your house is worth etc etc. Travelling on the tube is a nightmare at rush hour and the place is just dirty buildings but............

If you know where to go there are some beautiful places and if you can find down to earth cockneys you can have as good a laugh with them as you can with some northerners.

Overall, a great place to visit if you know where to go but after living there for a while I much prefer the north as, whilst there are plenty of idiots, the % of 'good' to 'bad' is much better up here.

The thing I dislike about London is all the concrete. You think of any other City in the country, Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Birmingham, and within a 30 minute drive from the city centre you can be in beautiful countryside. London is just miles and miles of congestion and concrete. For someone who has lived on the edge of the Pennines all his life, London is just too built up.

Great place to visit though and I've had some great times working there too. I've always got on well with cockneys. As long as you can give them as much banter back as they give you, they are great people to work and drink with.

Couldn't live there though, too expensive and too much of a rat race.

What about all the parks?Hyde Park is massive.Feels like you are in the country when you are in the middle of it.

There are a lot of sweeping statements in this thread.Everytime i come to Manchester all i see is row upon row of miserable houses and miserable people.Love the place though but i wouldn't if i didn't support City.Liverpool is the same.I've had great times there due to having some good friends living there but i wouldn't want to live there.

All Cities have their shit sides.London being bigger just has more. But there are some hidden gems.

Oo,let me add my tuppence worth!!

Been a couple of times. London is quite partisan, if you're not from around there(outside of being foreign!). Try asking for directions!! The weirdos look at you as if you're talking gibberish and dancing around smashing yourself with a 6 foot mallet! I've been livid a few times, but you grit your teeth and find your own way!

As has been said above, rush hour is just a sorry mess! I asked a conductor how to get from A to B and he told me to rush to another line or I'll miss the connection. People running around like their lives depended on it, I just took my time and still made the connection!

It's just the weirdest thing going in the opposite way from a rushing rat race crowd!

Well it's full of grey skies, it rains, it can be drab, but Manchester... is wonderful.

An expensive shit hole and full of low life from many other countries and cities.

That looks like a legal case for those taking offence ....the above comment could apply to almost every Big City world wide...which of course it is not true.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I probably does apply to many big cities, but we play in London at least 5 times a year (used to be more), and my last two visits v Chelsea and Spurs put me right of it.

actually no (she lived in maida vale..), she wasnt intelligent enough to follow the crowd. Hence why she married a northerner who lives in london!

She is struggling with what is going on with us now though

where do you live now mate? I'm in Kensal rise been in London for 3 years love it

I love New York City, been there three times and desperately want to go again, i would rather spend thousands to go there than hundreds to go to London, I have no intention to ever visit London, nothing appealing at all.

Okay, as an outsider who's been to both, I'll have a go.

London is full of history. It has some fantastic tourist attractions and is a great place to visit. Once. The second time, I was bored because I had already done the token "touristy" things.

Manchester on the other hand, has City. But it also has a great nightlife and a certain vibe walking down the streets, similar to the way New York and Hong Kong do.

You can never do everything in one visit to London Wheelsy. Where did you go?

I have been four times now and there are still loads of places I want to visit.
