Long weekend in Istanbul at end of May - Turkey on Govt Red List

People on about tickets and flight's moving the final to another country, it's over 4 weeks away we don't even know who are in the final yet, give it a rest FFS.
Keep it simple. Don't click on the thread and read it.

While Istanbul is a brilliant City to visit, it's not a place that will tolerate hundreds or even thousands of boozed up fans singing, partying ect
There is a bit of a cultrul difference regarding alcohol & drunken behaviour in many parts of Turkey including Istanbul
(Not that I would expect any bad behaviour from City fans)
The ground is a bit of a distance from the City and is pretty isolated
Don't get mixed up with the airports as there are two main ones, one in European side & one in the Asian side
An evening cruise on the Bophrus is well recommended
If any one does go might be favourite flying to one of the resorts like Bodrum or Izmir & just fly to Istanbul for the game as flying time is only an hour & flights only about £20-£30 return
If you do go give the locals plenty of respect and they will welcome you with open arms

Sport options (Spikes) planning to offer day trips and an overnight if circumstances allow.

Daily mail reporting UEFA working on the assumption of 9k allowed in, and Turkey to be on the amber list, which would mean 10 day quarantine on returning to the UK.

Case numbers dropping sharply already so could see things improving in the next 5 weeks.

It just gone into a three week lockdown.
That could be extended and Foreign Office telling Brits not to Travel.
No way is it going to be open for 29th May.

Well aware of the lockdown. I don't see how it can be viewed as anything other than a good thing. My point was that cases have already dramatically fallen, and a lockdown will expedite that.

Based on the current data, Turkey will be on the amber list when travel is allowed. If the trend continues then in 5 weeks time it could well be green. Your suggestion that the foreign office will advise against travel seems to be baseless?

Turkey is open now - the lockdown doesn't apply to tourists. UK citizens just aren't allowed to travel there (or anywhere else) yet.

If your well aware of the Lockdown you know it extends to 17th May. It could even be extended.
Cases have dropped but they were astronomically high and are at present the highest in Europe.
The Turkish Tourist Industry is trying to put a brave face on it and play it down but even the Russians have cancelled all flights until June 1st.
Foreign Office has advised against all but non essential travel ( If you did it would be Hotel Isolation on return) and there is absolutely no grounds to say it will be in Amber immediately after May 17. The Government are in no hurry to approve travel to places like Turkey and certainly not because of a Football Match

I don't know where your getting your data from, probably a Kebab Shop somewhere.

Not getting into an argument with a bigot but that is all nonsense. The data is freely available if you care to seek it out.

If we are fortunate enough to get there, I'll have a kebab in your honour.

As the match is likely to be late evening kick off, what do you do till the first flight out to Bodrum or Izmir on the Sunday? It would be an idea if TUI were doing package tours to Turkey in May but they aren't.
